Description
Client Solution Architects (CSA) is currently seeking a Solutions Architect, this position can be done in a remote capacity.
For nearly 50 years, CSA has delivered integrated technology and operational support services to meet the defense and federal sector's most complex enterprise needs. Working from operations centers and shipyards to training sites and program offices, CSA deploys experienced teams, innovative tools and proven processes to advance federal missions.
How your Role will make an impact:
- Design innovative, win-focused technical solutions for proposal responses to DoD solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, BAAs, OTAs)
- Develop compelling technical approaches that differentiate our solutions from competitors
- Create training solution architectures, LVC&G integration diagrams, concept of operations (CONOPS), and solution graphics for proposals
- Analyze solicitation requirements and develop compliant, cost-effective technical solutions
- Collaborate with capture managers, program managers, and business development teams to shape opportunities
- Support customer engagements and technical discussions during capture activities
- Evaluate emerging training technologies (e.g., extended reality (XR/AR/VR), synthetic training environments, game engines, and AI-enabled adaptive training) for proposal differentiation
- Develop technical discriminators and value propositions for competitive pursuits
- Design integrated Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming (LVC&G) training solutions that align with customer readiness objectives, training throughput, and life-cycle cost goals
- Conduct competitive analysis and assess competitor technical approaches
- Support orals preparation and technical presentations to government customers
- Provide technical solutioning for teaming agreements and subcontractor negotiations
- Participate in gate reviews and proposal color team reviews (pink, red, gold)
- Write persuasive, compliant technical volumes for proposal submissions
- Develop executive summaries, management approaches, and past performance narratives
- Create clear, compelling content that addresses evaluation criteria and win themes
- Create technical approaches alongside technical SMEs and capture managers to craft win themes and strategic narratives, and describe methodologies to include technical/management approaches, communication, and risk management and mitigation
- Develop capability statements, white papers, and technical marketing materials
- Produce compliant responses to technical requirements (L, M, C matrices)
- Ensure proposal content aligns with win strategy, themes, and discriminators
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to extract and articulate technical content
- Edit and refine proposal sections for clarity, compliance, and persuasiveness
- Manage proposal content in collaboration tools
- Develop past performance case studies and project descriptions
- Support responses to RFIs, sources sought notices, and pre-solicitation activities
- Create compelling graphics, tables, and visual elements to enhance readability
- Ensure compliance with page limits, formatting requirements, and solicitation instructions
Requirements
What you will need to have to join our award-winning team:
- Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 8 years of experience in solution architecture, training systems, modeling and simulation (M&S), or related technical roles
- Minimum 5 years of experience in proposal writing for DoD or Federal government contracts
- Proven track record of successful proposal wins (provide win rate if possible)
- Experience with the full proposal lifecycle from RFP release through submission
- Understanding of Federal acquisition processes (FAR/DFARS) and contract vehicles
- Strong understanding of Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming (LVC&G) training environments and how they are blended to deliver realistic, scalable training for individual, collective, and joint forces
- Live: Understanding of live training, in which real people operate real systems in real or instrumented environments (e.g., instrumented ranges, tactical engagement simulation/MILES, and Combat Training Centers such as NTC, JRTC, and JMRC)
- Virtual: Understanding of virtual training, in which real people operate simulated systems (e.g., flight simulators, vehicle and weapons crew trainers, CCTT, AVCATT, and ship and aircrew trainers)
- Constructive: Understanding of constructive simulation, in which simulated people operate simulated systems to support staff, command post, and wargaming exercises (e.g., JLCCTC, OneSAF, JCATS, and WARSIM)
- Gaming: Understanding of game-based training and commercial game engine applications (e.g., VBS, Unity, and Unreal) and how they are used for low-cost, high-repetition training
- Knowledge of LVC interoperability standards and architectures (e.g., HLA, DIS, TENA) and the challenges of integrating live, virtual, constructive, and gaming systems into a common training environment
- Familiarity with current service training modernization initiatives, such as the Army Synthetic Training Environment (STE), Navy LVC training, and Air Force Operational Training Infrastructure (OTI)
- Knowledge of the DoD training and simulation acquisition community and customers (e.g., PEO STRI, NAWCTSD, AFLCMC Simulators, PM TRASYS, and Joint Staff J7)
- Ability to translate customer training requirements (e.g., mission essential tasks, readiness objectives, training gaps) into LVC&G solutions that balance fidelity, cost, and throughput
- Understanding of training exercise support, including exercise design, planning, execution, simulation center operations, and after action review (AAR)
- Awareness of the LVC&G industry landscape, including key competitors, incumbents, and potential teaming partners
- Experience designing solutions for various contract types (IDIQ, GWAC, single award)
- Proficiency with architecture and diagramming tools
- Knowledge of DoD training mission areas (individual, collective, and joint training; mission rehearsal; readiness; and test and evaluation)
- Understanding of government evaluation criteria and source selection processes
- Experience with multiple DoD customers (Army, Navy, Air Force, etc.)
- Expert-level persuasive and technical writing skills
- Proven ability to write compliant, compelling proposal content under tight deadlines
- Experience managing color team reviews and incorporating feedback
- Proficiency with proposal tools (MS Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, collaboration platforms)
- Strong understanding of win strategies, themes, discriminators, and ghost/counter strategies
- Participate in person business development engagements at the customer site and conferences and provide capture support as assigned
- Ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical evaluators
- Experience with compliance matrices and requirements management
- Knowledge of proposal best practices (Shipley, APMP standards)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet aggressive proposal deadlines
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (capture, pricing, contracts, technical SMEs)
- Exceptional attention to detail and quality focus
- Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and last-minute proposal shifts
- Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously
What Sets you apart:
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Hands-on experience supporting or delivering LVC&G programs (e.g., STE, Combat Training Centers, simulation center operations) for Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps customers
- Prior military service with experience using training simulations or planning and executing training exercises
- One or more of the following certifications preferred: Shipley Associates proposal training, Certified Modeling & Simulation Professional (CMSP)
