Solution Architect, 12 month FTC
Full-time
๐ฐ ยฃ85,000, 12 month fixed term contract
๐ Remote with occasional travel to London Waterloo, roughly once a month
Company & role
This is a senior architecture hire within an established technology and professional services business undertaking a full transformation of its Lead to Cash value stream. The programme covers people, process, technology and data, and spans Sales, Finance, Operations and IT.
You will own the end to end solution architecture for that value stream. That means defining the target state, governing how it gets built, and making sure the business outcomes behind the programme actually translate into something scalable, secure and supportable. The role runs the full programme lifecycle, from vendor selection and solution design through implementation, testing, deployment and decommissioning of the legacy estate.
You will report into the Solution Architecture function and work closely with delivery teams, enterprise architecture and senior stakeholders across the business.
Why This Role Stands Out
You join before the technology is locked in. Vendor selection is part of the remit, so you shape what gets bought rather than inheriting someone else's decisions and making them work.
Genuine breadth. CRM, CPQ, order management, time and attendance, billing and ERP all sit inside the scope, alongside the integration and data layers that connect them.
Real architectural authority. You lead Architecture Review Boards, sit on Design Authority, and review the detailed designs coming out of delivery teams.
Visible across the business. Sales, Finance, Operations and IT are all in the room, so this is as much about stakeholder credibility as it is about design.
A clear remit to simplify. Reducing technical debt and retiring legacy applications is an explicit objective, not an afterthought.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the target solution architecture for the Lead to Cash value stream, including principles, standards and design patterns aligned to enterprise architecture.
- Produce High Level Designs and govern the detailed solution designs produced by delivery teams.
- Define how applications, platforms, integrations, data and infrastructure fit together across the landscape, ensuring alignment between CRM, CPQ, order management, time and attendance, billing and ERP.
- Provide architectural input into technology selection, supporting procurement and RFP activity.
- Ensure solutions meet functional, non functional, security, performance, scalability and operational requirements.
- Contribute to the programme test strategy and define architecture validation activities and technical acceptance criteria.
- Build architectural roadmaps for retiring legacy applications and reducing technical debt.
- Lead Architecture Review Boards, participate in Design Authority, and manage technical risks, assumptions and architectural decisions.
- Maintain architectural documentation and traceability across the programme.
Ideal Experience
- Significant experience as a Solution Architect on enterprise transformation programmes.
- Strong Lead to Cash process knowledge across CRM, CPQ, order management, time and attendance, billing and ERP.
- Solid grounding in systems integration, APIs, middleware and event driven architecture.
- Experience designing enterprise data models and data migration strategies.
- Experience producing High Level Designs and reviewing detailed designs produced by others.
- Experience defining architecture for cloud and SaaS platforms.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and architectural governance.
- Confident with senior stakeholders across technical and non technical functions, and able to balance strategic architecture with pragmatic delivery.
Desirable
- Hands on Salesforce experience, including how it is designed and integrated within a wider enterprise landscape.
- Background within a consulting or IT services business.
- Experience supporting technology procurement and RFP processes.
- TOGAF certification or equivalent.
- Experience in legacy application rationalisation and technology modernisation.
