Our client is looking for an experienced and technically curious Solution Architect to join their team.

About the role

As a Solution Architect, you’ll design and shape secure, scalable, sustainable and supportable digital solutions across significant government and enterprise platforms.

You’ll work at the intersection of business needs, user experience and technology, turning complex requirements into practical architectural solutions. From pre-sales and discovery through to implementation, delivery assurance and operational transition, you’ll have influence across the full digital delivery lifecycle.

You’ll also play an important role in shaping AI-enabled solutions, ensuring emerging technologies align with appropriate architecture, security and governance requirements.

A strong practical background in Drupal architecture and delivery is essential.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead solution architecture for complex government and enterprise digital projects, platforms and programs
• Define end-to-end architecture across applications, integrations, data, cloud, DevOps, security and operations, with a core focus on Drupal
• Lead discovery workshops, technical discussions, solution design and pre-sales activities
• Translate complex business, user and technical requirements into clear architectural solutions
• Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary delivery teams
• Guide Technical Leads, Developers and specialists while maintaining accountability for the overall solution architecture
• Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, trade-offs and architectural decisions
• Ensure security, privacy, resilience, accessibility and compliance requirements are embedded into solutions
• Work closely with clients, executives, technical teams and delivery stakeholders
• Assess emerging technologies and identify practical opportunities across cloud, AI, open source and digital platforms
• Support delivery assurance, operational readiness and transition into support

What you’ll bring

Essential:

• Australian citizenship and current residence in Australia
• Baseline security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one
• Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect or equivalent senior technical role
• Strong experience designing and delivering complex digital, software or technology solutions
• Strong practical Drupal architecture and delivery experience
• Experience across Drupal architecture, configuration, content modelling, module selection, integrations and deployment
• Experience across the full lifecycle — pre-sales, discovery, solution shaping, implementation, assurance and operational transition
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, integration patterns and modern digital technologies
• Experience designing secure, scalable, resilient and maintainable solutions
• Strong API, integration, data flow and distributed systems experience
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to influence and lead without direct line-management authority
• Strong problem-solving, systems thinking and analytical capability
• Ability to balance technical excellence with delivery realities, commercial outcomes and client needs

Nice to have

Experience with any of the following would be highly regarded:

• Australian Government or other highly regulated environments
• AWS and cloud-native architecture
• DevOps, CI/CD, containers and infrastructure as code
• Vue, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS
• Decoupled or progressively decoupled Drupal
• CKAN and open data platforms
• Rules as Code / OpenFisca
• Generative AI, AI service integration or responsible AI
• High-traffic, high-availability or event-driven platforms
• Security architecture, privacy and information security
• Performance engineering, resilience and disaster recovery
• Data architecture and complex data integrations
• Enterprise architecture frameworks and governance
• Digital agency, consultancy or professional services environments
