Our client, a global manufacturing company, is seeking a Business Development Manager to develop new business opportunities within the Oil & Gas and heavy industrial markets.

This is a true new-business development role focused on identifying, developing, and securing new customers, applications, and revenue opportunities. The primary market focus will be Oil & Gas, particularly high-usage engineered components, wear parts, and replacement components used in Oil & Gas operations.

The ideal candidate will combine strong business development capabilities with technical knowledge of engineered products and manufacturing processes. Experience with castings, forgings, precision metal components, machining, polymers, plastic injection molding, or other engineered components is highly relevant.

This position is remote within the United States and requires regular customer-facing travel, up to approximately 50%.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent technical or industry experience will be considered.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of business development or technical sales experience, with a demonstrated track record of generating new customers and new business.
  • Strong experience selling engineered components, wear parts, replacement components, investment castings, forgings, precision castings, or engineered metal components, with experience in Oil & Gas, upstream, drilling, heavy industrial, or related industrial markets.
  • Proven ability to identify, develop, and close new business opportunities rather than primarily manage established accounts.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 50%.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Understanding of customer RFQs, engineering drawings, technical specifications, pricing, and commercial requirements.
  • Ability to understand customer applications and translate technical requirements into viable manufacturing and commercial solutions.
  • Knowledge of new product development and production launch processes, from RFQ through production.
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems and Microsoft Office.

Competencies:

  • Strong new-business development and prospecting capabilities.
  • Demonstrated hunter mentality with the ability to identify, penetrate, and develop new accounts.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across engineering, procurement, operations, and leadership levels.
  • Strong commercial and technical credibility.
  • Negotiation and commercial acumen.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and highly accountable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively and independently in a remote environment.
  • Clear, confident, and persuasive communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, prospect, and develop new customers and new markets, with an initial focus on Oil & Gas and heavy industrial applications.
  • Develop new business opportunities involving high-usage engineered components, wear parts, replacement components, and related manufactured products.
  • Build relationships with prospective customers across procurement, engineering, operations, and leadership levels.
  • Identify customer applications and obtain drawings, specifications, requirements, and other technical information necessary to evaluate new opportunities.
  • Drive opportunities from initial prospecting and qualification through RFQ, quotation, commercial negotiation, award, and production launch.
  • Collaborate with internal leadership and technical resources to evaluate opportunities, establish pricing, and develop competitive commercial proposals.
  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms in collaboration with company leadership.
  • Develop and maintain a disciplined pipeline of qualified new-business opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM activity, opportunity, and forecasting information.
  • Monitor target markets, prospective customers, competitors, and emerging business opportunities.
  • Travel to prospective customers and business development meetings as required.
  • Focus on new customer acquisition and new revenue generation, with internal teams supporting order administration and ongoing operational activities.
What Client Offer:
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Performance-based incentive opportunity
  • Remote work environment
  • Opportunity to develop new customers and markets across the United States
  • Opportunity to work in an international, growing, and innovative company
  • Professional development and career growth opportunities
  • Dynamic work environment with a focus on teamwork and collaboration
