Space Debris Analysis Engineer (m/f/d)
The activities related to Space Debris and Hypervelocity Impact analysis are rapidly growing within OHB. Upcoming projects, customer requests and internal R&D developments require dedicated support to reinforce our expertise and expand our analysis capabilities. Several missions require support in this domain around Earth, the Moon, Venus, Mars, and even deep space destinations such as Enceladus. The Propulsion & Environment Analysis Team is therefore looking for a Space Debris Analysis Engineer to support spacecraft development, mission studies, and proposal activities in the fields of Micrometeoroid and Orbital Debris (MMOD) engineering as well as Dark and Quiet Skies.
Your Tasks
- Hypervelocity impact analyses for spacecraft missions
- Support to shielding design activities and associated modelling
- Development, validation, and application of next-generation MMOD methodologies
- Support to vulnerability and risk assessment activities
- Contribution to internal and external R&D programmes
- Support the evolution of DarKnight 2.0 capabilities
- Contribution to future ESA studies, customer projects, and standardisation activities
- Support proposal preparation and technical discussions with customers and agencies
- Participation in scientific conferences, workshops, and the broader space debris community
Your Qualifications
- Completed degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable qualification
- Scientific programming skills are required, Python is the preferred language
- Knowledge of space debris modelling is considered an asset
- Interest in spacecraft environment engineering and related disciplines
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a wide variety of technical topics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Very good communication and presentation skills
- High proficiency in English as a working language, both spoken and written
