The Special Assistant to the Head Coach will serve as a key strategic advisor to the Head Coach of the Women's Basketball program, with primary responsibility for revenue sharing, Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), roster strategy, and student-athlete and agent relations. This position will work closely with the Head Coach and appropriate Athletics staff to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the recruitment, retention, and management of student-athletes in the evolving collegiate athletics environment. The Special Assistant will serve as a primary point of coordination for matters related to student-athlete compensation opportunities, agent and representative relationships, roster planning, and player engagement while ensuring alignment with institutional, conference, and NCAA requirements. This is a part-time, .50 FTE position and requires the ability to work nights and weekends, and travel as needed. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment. If you are selected for this position and are employed to work remotely from outside of Arizona, your overtime exemption status will depend on the laws of the state where you perform your work. For employees working outside of Arizona, you may be hired as an hourly employee in accordance with state laws. A comparable hourly rate range would be: $36.06 - $48.08. These changes would not affect the position duties as outlined. Duties & Responsibilities Name, Image and Likeness Serve as the program’s primary point of coordination for NIL strategy and opportunities. Work collaboratively with internal Athletics staff and external partners to identify and facilitate NIL opportunities for Women’s Basketball student-athletes. Maintain an understanding of the NIL marketplace and emerging trends impacting women’s basketball and collegiate athletics. Track NIL activity and opportunities across the roster to provide the Head Coach with an accurate understanding of each student-athlete’s overall opportunities. Coordinate with appropriate institutional personnel to ensure NIL activities comply with applicable University, conference, NCAA, and legal requirements. Agent and Player Relations Serve as a primary point of contact, as appropriate, for agents and other authorized representatives of current and prospective student-athletes. Develop and maintain professional relationships with agents, representatives, and other key stakeholders within the women’s basketball landscape. Maintain regular communication with student-athletes regarding revenue sharing, NIL opportunities, and other matters impacting their experience within the program. Assist with communication and coordination related to student-athlete recruitment, retention, transfer portal activity, and professional opportunities. Maintain appropriate records of communications and commitments involving student-athletes and their authorized representatives. Player Personnel and Strategic Planning Work closely with the Head Coach to develop short- and long-term roster management strategies. Monitor the collegiate women’s basketball landscape, including transfer portal activity, recruiting trends, NIL developments, revenue-sharing practices, and other factors affecting roster construction. Develop comparative information and market intelligence to support strategic decision-making. Assist with identifying roster needs and opportunities based on positional needs, eligibility, retention risk, and available resources. Support the Head Coach in preparing for conversations and negotiations related to recruitment and retention. Compliance and Institutional Coordination Maintain current knowledge of applicable NCAA, conference, University, revenue-sharing, NIL, agent, and student-athlete eligibility requirements. Work closely with Athletics Compliance and other appropriate institutional units to ensure program activities are conducted consistent with applicable rules and policies. Maintain accurate documentation related to revenue sharing, NIL, and other areas within the position’s responsibilities. Ensure appropriate approvals and institutional processes are followed before commitments are communicated or finalized. Participate in required education and training regarding NCAA rules, revenue sharing, NIL, agent relationships, and other evolving areas of collegiate athletics. Additional Responsibilities Serve as a strategic advisor and resource to the Head Coach on matters related to roster management, student-athlete compensation, NIL, recruiting and retention. Represent the Women’s Basketball program in internal meetings related to revenue sharing, NIL, roster management, and student-athlete services as assigned. Budget accountability. Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a player or coach. Preferred Qualifications Three (3) years of Division I experience. Experience managing students in a fast-paced and dynamic office environment.
