  • Full Time

  • 1.0 FTE, M-F

About the Role:

Hello, Special Education Aides! Ampersand Therapy is hiring a Special Education Aide for a school setting in Opelika, AL. In this role, you'll play a critical role in supporting students with their daily academic, mobility, personal care, and self-help needs while promoting independence, safety, and success throughout the school day.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist students with feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, and other self-help skills.

  • Support student mobility and safe movement throughout the school campus.

  • Assist with transporting assistive technology devices and student materials as needed.

  • Provide support with classroom activities, reading, and other curriculum-related tasks under teacher guidance.

  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce material introduced by the special education teacher.

  • Accompany students to the school office, nurse, and other areas as needed.

  • Build supportive, professional relationships that encourage student independence and success.

  • Participate in student support meetings and in-service training programs as requested.

  • Perform additional classroom duties and assignments to support an effective and safe learning

What We’re Looking For:

  • Must hold an Associate’s degree, OR

  • Have completed at least 48 semester hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education, OR

  • Have successfully completed the Alabama State Board of Education-approved WorkKeys test.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • School-based experience preferred, not required
