Specialist, Inbound Logistics and Customs

Your role
As a Specialist, Inbound Logistics and Customs, you will support the day-to-day execution, compliance and continuous development of Orion Pharma’s import customs operations and international supply chains. In this role, you will ensure the accuracy of customs and import-related data, coordinate transportation, customs and other operational logistics activities with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the implementation of compliant and efficient supply chain processes in a continuously evolving regulatory environment.

The role combines hands-on operational responsibilities with opportunities to participate in process development and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Production, Warehousing, Logistics Service Providers and Customs Brokers to support import logistics, customs processes and trade compliance activities across Orion’s supply chain network.

The position reports to the Manager, Customs Trade Compliance & Import, is based in Espoo, Finland, and is offered as a full-time, permanent position with a hybrid working model.

Responsibilities
You will play a key role in ensuring compliant, efficient and reliable import logistics and customs operations that support Orion's global supply chain. You will combine operational execution with process development and continuous improvement activities in a dynamic regulatory environment.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Supporting and coordinating day-to-day import logistics activities to ensure the timely flow of materials to manufacturing sites
• Maintaining, reviewing and monitoring customs-related data, documentation and transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness and audit readiness
• Monitoring customs-related material movements, records and operational events, and coordinating corrective actions when discrepancies or deviations are identified
• Supporting the administration and execution of customs procedures and customs authorizations, including special procedures where applicable
• Coordinating and managing transportation bookings in compliance with GxP requirements, and verifying transport-related invoices
• Monitoring shipment status, delivery performance and transportation-related activities, proactively coordinating actions to resolve delays, exceptions and operational issues
• Contributing to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of customs, import logistics and compliance processes, controls and work instructions
• Supporting the implementation of new business requirements, supply chain models and regulatory changes affecting customs and import activities

What are we looking for?

• University degree or degree from a university of applied sciences (B.Sc./M.Sc.) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering and Management, Business Administration, Economics, International Business, or another relevant field
• Previous experience in import/export operations, customs, freight forwarding, logistics, transportation management or supply chain activities
• Ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously and ensure that operational tasks are completed accurately, efficiently and in compliance with applicable requirements
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify deviations, investigate root causes and drive issues through to resolution
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders in both Finnish and English

The following experience is considered an advantage:

• Customs operations, customs procedures and international trade
• Preferential origin, free trade agreements and supplier declarations
• Tariff classification and applications for Binding Tariff Information (BTI) rulings
• Experience with ERP systems, SAP and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Experience in regulated industries and GDP/GxP operating environments

Your new team
Orion's Global Operations covers the entire pharmaceutical manufacturing process, from sourcing of raw materials to the manufacture of products, packaging and delivery to customers. We are also responsible for the industrialization of new products and product life cycle management.
