Lush Lawn & Safari Tree is seeking a Specialty Services Director. This role requires a hands-on leader to run our Specialty Services department: pest care, tree and shrub healthcare, and holiday lights. You'll make sure our customers' expectations are met or exceeded by building, managing, training, and supporting a strong team of technicians. Two – three days in office; Waterford and two days in the field. This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.
What You'll Do
- Recruit, train, manage and develop a team of 5-10 MDARD licensed Tree and Pest Technicians serving residential and commercial properties
- Recruit, train, and develop a team of 2-4 Holiday Light Technicians
- Oversee technician routes and keep the production schedule on track, including filling in on equipment when personnel are absent
- Meet daily with production staff to review plans and resolve issues
- Make sure the best pest, tree, and holiday light practices are followed
- Supervise product usage to ensure compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal pesticide safety standards
- Enforce company policies, including attendance, safety, security, and MDARD requirements
- Provide accurate production records and report; weekly and monthly
- Conduct employee evaluations
- Order the resources and supplies needed for production
- Resolve employee and customer issues quickly to reduce turnover and cancellations
- Identify trends and growth opportunities, and bring new ideas to the department
- Communicate department needs and issues to the COO and corporate
- Foster a positive, team-first culture
- Provide excellent customer service, including answering phones and understanding customer needs
What You Bring
Required
- 2 years of management experience
- Valid driver's license
Preferred
- MDARD certification related to pest and tree
- 1-2 years of experience in tree and shrub healthcare, or pest control
- At least two years’ experience managing a team
- Contract negotiation and vendor management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Google, and Outlook
- Detail oriented, organized, and deadline driven
