Specialty Underwriting Coordinator II
Are you a detail-oriented reinsurance professional who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment? Do you enjoy being the operational backbone that keeps complex business processes running smoothly across global teams? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
About the Role
As a Specialty Underwriting Coordinator II based in Bangalore, India, you'll play a pivotal role in the end-to-end administrative handling of reinsurance business across specialty lines. You'll be the go-to expert for processes, tools, and systems — bridging the gap between client markets, underwriting teams, and regional business services. This is a role where your precision, initiative, and reinsurance expertise will directly contribute to Swiss Re's mission of making the world more resilient.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate end-to-end business services processes for Treaty and Facultative specialty lines of business, including Engineering, Marine, Agro, Credit & Surety, and Aviation, in collaboration with stakeholders and regional BS teams
- Provide technical support for Treaty/FAC new and renewal processes, including contract wording review, submission support, system input/updates, and ensuring prompt documentation is stored in relevant systems
- Lead coordination of pending actions with regional BS teams and provide support to client markets-related functions, including follow-ups with Products, BM, TA, CAS, Claims, and Finance on outstanding issues
- Ensure standard reporting for market units is completed in a timely manner and with high quality, supporting Client Markets operations
- Deliver solutions to complex technical problems with clear standards, demonstrating a deep understanding of E2E processes and the broader reinsurance landscape
- Provide administrative support for tools, record management, and data processes — including data entry and data quality assurance
- Support and ensure compliance with external and internal audit requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes to drive higher efficiency and quality
- Act as a business expert for Swiss Re's administrative tools, processes, and guidelines, maintaining methodology documentation
- Foster collaboration with broader BS teams and experts across APAC, EMEA, and Americas regions
About the Team
The Specialty Business Services team is part of the Business Operations APAC function within Swiss Re's Reinsurance organizational unit. The team provides expert administrative and operational support across specialty lines of business, ensuring seamless coordination between client markets, underwriting, pricing, and regional business services teams. With a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and process excellence, the team plays a critical role in enabling Swiss Re's reinsurance business to run smoothly across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
About You
You are a proactive, self-driven professional with a solid foundation in reinsurance or insurance operations. You bring a strong service orientation, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multicultural environment. You communicate with confidence, collaborate across functions and geographies, and take full ownership of your responsibilities. You're someone who doesn't just follow processes — you improve them.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of working experience in Insurance or Reinsurance, with a strong preference for hands-on experience in reinsurance concepts and business processes
- Proficient knowledge of Treaty and Facultative (FAC) reinsurance, including E2E processes, contract wording interpretation, and clause analysis
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated experience working with Client Managers, Underwriters, and Client Underwriters across regional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools — Word, Excel, and PowerPoint — with working knowledge of Power BI
- Good command of English, both verbal and written, with strong business communication and cross-cultural skills
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience with underwriting and pricing tools within a reinsurance context
- Knowledge of ORM/RCSA frameworks and their application in a business services environment
- Familiarity with Swiss Re's administrative systems or similar reinsurance platforms
- Graduate or post-graduate qualification with an Insurance certification
- Ability and flexibility to work across Asia time zones to support regional collaboration
- Experience in knowledge transfer and coaching colleagues on processes and tools
- A strategic mindset with the ability to develop use cases and fact-driven business insights
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
