JOB PURPOSE:

Using discretion and judgment, participate in analyzing requirements and in development of software solutions supporting our Legal, Compliance & Enterprise Risk Management teams (LCERM). The junior Software Engineer works with multiple databases/data stores, builds data pipelines and makes enhancements to multi-tiered application code. You must be able to design and build small systems under the supervision and guidance of a Lead Software Engineer or work with a more senior developer on a complex project. Ability to thrive in an agile and collaborative environment.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interprets business requirements, analyzes environment, maps requirements to design, codes, debugs, unit tests programs to deliver final product. Works with business analysts and user community to understand and evaluate business needs.
• Experience with building custom applications, business analytics tools and their integration using AI tools.
• Configures and customizes Cloud-Based third-party vendor applications.
• Documents code and processes to aid in system support
• Keeps technical skills current, well-versed in several areas of technology.
• Collaborates with other IT and business groups and readily shares information to resolve problems.

MFS co-op positions are a 6-month commitment, working Monday – Friday (January 13th through June 25th, 2027), and work between 35-40 hours. Our program is designed for undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in a co-op program through their college or university and can meet our requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Candidate Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, MIS or Finance
• Strong technical acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills
• Skills in one or more programming languages: SQL, JAVA, python, Power Apps or React.
• Ability to work across boundaries, building cross-organizational relationships.
• Strong desire to expand your skills through self-study, hands-on learning, and formal instruction.
• Strong interpersonal, communication (both written and oral) & analytical skills; must be team-oriented and deadline-driven.

PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Financial Industry Knowledge preferred.
• General knowledge and understanding of other products within Azure Cloud ecosystem are a definite plus.

Hourly Pay Rate: $21.00 - $25.00
