Sr Software Engineer - HR/Payroll Systems

MUST BE IN HONOLULU, HAWAII | HYBRID

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mid-Level to Sr Software Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience to support

and enhance critical HR and Payroll technology systems. This role will focus on application development, system integrations, database support, and payroll-related solutions that support key business operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with HR or payroll technologies, strong SQL skills, and a demonstrated ability to handle

highly sensitive employee and payroll data with professionalism and discretion.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support HR and Payroll applications and related integrations
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and implement system improvements
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database processes
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, and integration issues
• Support payroll processing systems, enhancements, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance
• Ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll data
• Participate in system testing, deployments, and production support activities
• Create and maintain technical documentation and support knowledge transfer efforts
• Recommend process improvements and technical solutions to increase efficiency and reliability

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering or application development experience
• Experience operating at a mid-level or Upper-level engineering capacity
• Experience supporting HR, Payroll, HRIS, or enterprise business applications
• Strong SQL and database development experience
• Experience with systems integration and data exchange processes
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated understanding of data privacy, security, and confidentiality best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with payroll systems or payroll-related projects
• Experience supporting enterprise HR technology platforms
• Experience with API development and integrations
• Experience working with sensitive or regulated data
• Prior experience in healthcare, government, education, or large enterprise environments

• Potential transition to a hybrid model (approximately one day per week onsite in the future)

This is a Contract position based out of Honolulu, HI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
