This role serves as a key liaison for AMAI in the large employer group marketplace. This role manages assigned institutional client and broker relationships and works closely with the AMAI Institutional Relationship Manager, AMA and AMAI colleagues, insurance carrier partners, employee benefit brokers, distribution partners, and institutional clients to support the sale, implementation, and ongoing positioning of AMAI insurance products. The position is responsible for communicating AMAI’s value proposition, coordinating implementation activities, and strengthening relationships with stakeholders across institutional client organizations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Institutional Coverage Implementation: 45% · Partner with the Institutional Relationship Manager to drive implementation of AMAI insurance products for institutional clients, including programs such as the AMA-sponsored Teaching Hospital program and offerings such as group long-term disability, short-term disability, term life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, and related products and services · Serve as an implementation liaison among AMA/AMAI, insurance carrier partners, distribution partners, employee benefit brokers, and institutional clients to coordinate the activities required to activate coverage and place it in force · Develop and manage key relationships with internal teams, carrier partners, distribution partners, and institutional clients, including executive-level decision makers · Provide educational information, onboarding materials, key contact details, and related resources to introduce AMAI programs and products to institutional clients and their employees, helping them understand and use available offerings when needed Institutional Group Sales: 35% · Identify, develop, and maintain distribution channels that effectively support sales of AMAI’s value offering · Independently develop and pursue sales opportunities for assigned clients and support additional opportunities through insurance companies, AMA staff, GME directors, brokers, and other referral sources · Promote AMAI’s value offering across distribution channels, ensuring messaging aligns with the priorities of distribution partners and the institutional clients they serve · Coordinate with carrier and distribution partners to secure, prepare, review, and present proposals and quotes to brokers, institutional clients, and relevant decision makers · Use approved promotional materials to communicate the benefits of AMAI solutions to distribution partners and their clients · Accountable for achieving assigned sales results, including clients sold, premium generated, and revenue earned, while maintaining accurate client contact information and sales-cycle progress in Salesforce · Educate, train, and support channel partners to strengthen their ability to position, promote, and sell AMAI offerings · Represent AMAI at industry conferences, client meetings, and related events to promote AMAI’s value proposition Program Development: 20% · Support team efforts to develop, document, and continuously improve processes for promoting, quoting, selling, and implementing coverage associated with AMAI’s value offerings · Collaborate with carriers and channel partners to identify opportunities to streamline implementation processes and improve the experience for all stakeholders · Recommend updates, refinements, or new sales materials, including talking points, frequently asked questions, objection-handling responses, competitive positioning resources, and other tools that communicate AMAI’s advantages · Manage day-to-day sales activities for assigned clients and support additional opportunities led by the Institutional Relationship Manager · Routinely share market intelligence, customer insights, and trend information with team members and the Institutional Relationship Manager to help improve overall results May include other responsibilities as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Education: Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience and HS diploma/equivalent education required (P1-P4/M1-M2) 2. Years of experience: 5+ years business-to-business sales, product development, business development, or marketing experience, preferably with emphasis in the medical, insurance, or employee benefits marketplace 3. Must be licensed and appointed in accordance with applicable insurance laws and regulations in the state(s) of operation, as defined by the agency 4. Demonstrated selling skills, including strong presentation, persuasion, negotiation, and executive-influence capabilities 5. Proven ability to identify client needs, negotiate effectively, and close large institutional sales opportunities 6. Goal-oriented professional with a demonstrated track record of achieving sales targets and revenue objectives 7. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to create, compose, and edit letters, proposals, contract documents, and sales materials 8. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders 9. Ability to maintain accurate reporting and customer relationship management records 10. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Salesforce software 11. Travel required The American Medical Association is located at 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 and is convenient to all public transportation in Chicago. This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $94,676 - $125,368. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
