Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing advanced accounting, financial analysis, cost accounting, and business support across multiple lines of business within a dynamic corporate environment. This role serves as a key contributor to the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and operational decision support.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with exceptional analytical capabilities, using financial data to identify trends, resolve issues, improve processes, and provide actionable business insights. This individual must thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and partner effectively with stakeholders across multiple business segments
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Accounting
· Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting policies.
· Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
· Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and provide detailed explanations to management.
· Support internal and external audits by preparing requested schedules, documentation, and supporting analyses.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Cost Accounting & Operational Support
· Analyze direct and indirect costs across multiple locations.
· Ensure revenue, inventory and cost of goods sold are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
· Partner with operations, project teams, and business leaders to understand financial results and support decision making.
· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost management initiatives.
Financial Analysis & Business Insights
· Perform detailed financial and operational analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
· Evaluate expenditures to ensure proper recognition with US GAAP.
· Develop meaningful variance analysis and provide executive-level explanations for financial fluctuations.
· Evaluate large volumes of financial data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
· Support management with ad hoc analyses, modeling, and business case development.
· Identify key performance indicators and monitor financial and operational performance.
Process Improvement & Problem Resolution
· Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve controls, and increase efficiency.
· Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives and automation efforts.
· Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, system issues, data inconsistencies, and process breakdowns promptly.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable solutions.
· Document processes and maintain strong internal controls.
Cross-Functional Partnership
· Work closely with Accounting, Operations, FP&A, and other business stakeholders.
· Provide financial guidance and accounting support for strategic initiatives and operational activities.
· Build strong working relationships across multiple business segments and corporate functions.
· Communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
· Participate as a subject matter expert for project initiatives
Qualifications
Education & Credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required.
- CPA, CMA, or Advanced accounting certification preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial analysis experience.
- Strong cost accounting experience preferred.
- Experience supporting multiple business segments, locations, or lines of business preferred.
- Experience in a complex corporate environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing complex financial data, identifying trends and root causes.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Advanced financial analysis and variances analysis skills.
- Cost Accounting knowledge and operational finance expertise.
- Advanced microsoft Excel Skills
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting platforms
