Description Prepares and records journal entries, reconciles balance sheet accounts. Prepare monthly financial statements and variance explanations for assigned practices/departments. Prepare supporting work-papers for the external audit, preparation of the 990 tax returns, personal property returns and unclaimed property filing. Assist the accounting supervisor/manager and Director of Finance as necessary; and other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Accurately complete all monthly journal entries by the 9th business day. Accurately prepare balance sheet reconciliations by the 10th business day. Prepare accurate financial statements to include actual to budget variance explanations to the practice/department by the 12th business day. Prepare audit schedules and tax return documentation independently. Proactively identifies errors and issues and resolves them independently. Analyzes cash flow and financial statements for the practice/department providing recommendations as appropriate. Demonstrate ability to create new integrations within Great Plains and report formats within FRX to increase efficiency. Documents and understands accounting control procedures. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline from four-year college or university Five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred Knowledge of GAAP High level of initiative and ability to work independently Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
