We are looking for an experienced Senior Analytics Engineer to join our engagement as soon as possible. This is a long-term opportunity for a data professional with strong expertise in mobile app analytics, event-driven data modeling, and modern data engineering practices.
In this role, you will transform complex mobile application events and IoT device data into reliable, scalable, and well-structured data models, creating a trusted single source of truth for business reporting and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data models using BigQuery and dbt.
- Transform raw mobile app events and IoT telemetry into clean, reliable, business-ready datasets.
- Develop and maintain a consistent semantic layer and business dashboards using Looker and/or Power BI.
- Optimize BigQuery queries, data structures, and processing costs.
- Implement automated data quality checks and testing frameworks to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust analytics solutions.
- Apply software engineering best practices, including version control, code reviews, and automated deployments.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- Advanced SQL & BigQuery: Strong expertise in query optimization, partitioning, clustering, table design, and cost-performance trade-offs.
- dbt: Hands-on experience building modular, tested, and documented data models, including the use of macros and packages.
- Mobile App Analytics: Proven experience working with mobile application event data and event-driven analytics ecosystems.
- IoT & Event Data Modeling: Experience connecting application events with device telemetry and modeling complex event-driven data flows.
- Looker and/or Power BI: Experience developing and maintaining semantic layers, metrics, and business dashboards.
- Git: Proficiency in version control, branching strategies, pull requests, and code review workflows.
- Data Quality & Testing: Experience implementing automated data quality checks using dbt tests, Great Expectations, or similar tools.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Python: Basic scripting, API integrations, and data orchestration.
- CI/CD: Experience with GitHub Actions or similar deployment automation tools.
- Streaming & Data Ingestion: Familiarity with data pipelines that transfer events and telemetry from connected devices into BigQuery.
Ideal Candidate
You are a hands-on analytics professional who combines strong technical skills with an understanding of how data supports business decisions. You can turn complex, fragmented event data into trustworthy analytics assets and build data models that are performant, maintainable, and scalable.
Experience in a mobile app ecosystem involving IoT or connected devices is particularly important for this engagement.
