The purpose of this role is to assist the Compliance Director implement an effective healthcare compliance program consistent with standards outlined by the federal and state laws, regulations and licensing bodies. The Sr. Compliance Specialist helps ensure adherence to applicable federal and state healthcare compliance requirements, supports risk mitigation activities, and partners with cross-functional teams to promote ethical business practices. This role may evolve as organizational needs change.
• Conduct complex compliance monitoring, audits and risk assessments.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess organizational impact.
• Lead/support complex compliance investigations and remediation activities.
• Manage assigned Hotline matters.
• Support development of compliance policies and procedures.
• Provide compliance education and subject-matter guidance.
• Conduct initial and routine exclusion screenings and other regulatory monitoring.
• Prepare compliance reports and metrics.
• Manage conflicts of interest procedures, reporting and management.
• Support audits and regulatory inquiries.
• Recommend compliance controls and corrective actions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and supporting documentation related to compliance program activities for Compliance Committee consideration.
• Maintain organized records to support audit readiness, regulatory inquiries and internal reporting needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational growth and objectives.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Legal Studies, Science or related field.
• Five plus years of experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory, auditing or related experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred:
• Professional certification, such as CHC, CCEP.
• Experience in implementing compliance controls within a clinical laboratory, healthcare setting, or highly regulated environment.
COMPETENCIES
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy of data presented.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to critically analyze data and prepare accurate summaries based on the data.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Location: Remote or hybrid based on business needs. Minimal travel, not more than 20%.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer and reviewing documentation or data.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders in person, by phone, and through virtual platforms.
• Must be able to analyze information, prepare reports, and manage multiple assignments with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Work is performed primarily in office or home office environments with standard business equipment and conditions.
