Job Description Summary
GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Engineer – DCS / Controls Application Engineering (Asia) to lead application engineering activities for DCS, controls, and related cybersecurity scope across the Asia region. This is a senior technical role requiring a high degree of autonomy, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to serve as a focal point for complex proposal and application engineering matters within the region. While the role is primarily focused on Asia, the position is also expected to collaborate seamlessly across global poles, work closely with other application engineers and adjacent functions, and provide proposal support in other regions as business needs require.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical application engineering scope for DCS, controls, and related cybersecurity requirements for proposal activities across Asia, including new unit, extended scope, and selected equipment-only opportunities.
- Serve as a senior technical focal point within the region for complex controls application topics, providing clear technical direction, strong decision-making, and consistent engineering judgment.
- Strong understanding of GEV DCS and controls product range and solutions.
- Evaluate customer and EPC technical requirements, review RFQs/RFPs, and define compliant, competitive, and standardized application solutions aligned with business and customer needs.
- Review customer specifications and identify technical deviations, clarifications, and exceptions from standard solutions, preferred reference plant designs, and applicable engineering design requirements.
- Coordinate integrated controls solutions across disciplines to ensure a consistent plant-level design approach and a unified proposal strategy.
- Collaborate closely with application engineers, product engineering, commercial teams, compliance, sourcing, and other functional stakeholders across all poles to ensure alignment, knowledge sharing, and consistent execution.
- Step in to support proposals outside Asia, particularly where specialized DCS, controls, or cybersecurity application expertise is needed, or where global resource balancing requires additional senior technical support.
- Provide application engineering guidance on non-standard controls topics, including Mark VIe-related applications, third-party DCS interfaces, system architecture, and customer-specific technical requirements, support equipment application engineering as required.
- Prepare technical proposal deliverables for DCS and controls scope, including technical write-ups, clarifications, deviations, and control architecture documentation, as required.
- Support proposal costing activities for DCS and controls scope, including development of costing inputs and coordination with sourcing and suppliers where required.
- Support technical discussions with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve technical issues, and support successful proposal development.
- Support cybersecurity application engineering for controls and adjacent plant systems, including requirements driven by regulation, standards, customer specifications, and non-standard market needs.
- Identify technical risks, gaps, exceptions, and execution challenges early, and lead development of practical mitigation strategies across functions and disciplines.
- Contribute to and help drive standardization of tools, technical practices, proposal language, design approaches, and process improvements within the controls application engineering function.
- Interface with product management, engineering, and sourcing teams to ensure proposal solutions remain aligned with latest design practices, lessons learned, and product developments.
- Support introduction of new controls-related technologies, products, and standard solutions into the application engineering process.
- Mentor less experienced engineers, promote technical rigor, and help strengthen functional capability, consistency, and collaboration across the broader team.
Required Qualifications
- For roles outside of the USA-This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Application Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
- For roles in USA - Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
- Significant experience in customer application/ proposal engineering and costing, controls engineering and related power plant controls domains.
- Demonstrated experience with DCS and plant controls application engineering and integrated plant control solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to independently interpret customer specifications and translate complex technical requirements into practical and competitive engineering solutions.
- Experience working across functions such as commercial operations, product engineering, compliance, sourcing, and project engineering in a matrixed or global environment.

- Working knowledge of cybersecurity requirements relevant to controls systems, industrial networks, and plant-level application engineering.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to interface effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal technical teams.
- Experience driving technical rigor, risk identification, problem resolution, and continuous improvement in an application or proposal engineering environment.
- Ability to mentor and coach other engineers, share best practices, and strengthen technical capability across the team.
- Demonstrated mindset for standardization, lean improvement, innovation, and adoption of improved tools and processes.
- Awareness of evolving industry technologies, regulations, and market expectations relevant to controls and cybersecurity application engineering.
