Show job description
The Senior Director, Store Operations leads Matco’s Store Operations function (the Store Success Team), which is focused on enabling the success and productivity of Matco's Field Operations Team. This role is accountable for leading the development of the processes, tools, reporting, dashboards, policies, how-to guides, operating rhythms, skill development, and talent onboarding that enable District Managers to more effectively recruit and support Franchisees to deliver improved business outcomes across the Matco business system.
The Senior Director reports to the VP Sales & Operations who directly manages the field organization, as the primary operational enablement leader for the field. This is accomplished through direct leadership of a dedicated Store Success Team focused entirely on supporting field District and Region Managers, and removing barriers that slow down field execution.
The Senior Director acts as the voice of the Distributor and field organization, translating field needs into enterprise priorities and working collaboratively across Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, Franchise Development, Supply Chain, IT, Customer Service, and other cross functional teams to simplify execution and make life easier for the field to enable improved capacity and capabilities focused on improving financial results with and through our Distributor partners. This role also serves as the single point of communication for the field, ensuring communication is clear, prioritized, actionable, and aligned with MATCO’s strategic objectives.
Success in this role is built on four strategic pillars: enabling field execution, simplifying operational processes, strengthening performance visibility, and driving cross-functional alignment in support of Region and District Managers and Franchisees.
Scope of Role
  • Business Scope: Leads the Store Success Team supporting the Region and District Manager organization and Matco’s network of independently owned Franchisee/Distributor businesses.
  • Autonomy: Operates with broad discretion and significant independent judgment to design, prioritize, and implement enterprise-level field support processes, tools, dashboards, communications, skill development, and operating standards.
  • Organizational Reach: Serves as a senior enterprise integrator across Field Sales & Operations, Marketing, Finance, Franchise Development, Distributor Support, Human Resources, IT, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and other support functions to improve the effectiveness of the field organization.
  • Leadership Scope: Leads the Store Success Team establishing priorities, service expectations, work processes, and performance standards that directly support Region and District Manager success.
  • Field Relationship: Supports, enables, and advocates for the field organization; District Managers and field leaders do not report to this role.
  • Accountability: Holds primary accountability for the quality, usability, consistency, and effectiveness of field support tools, operating processes, reporting, communication, and issue-resolution pathways.
  • Decision Complexity: Regularly resolves complex, ambiguous, cross-functional operational challenges that impact field execution, requiring sound judgment, senior-level influence, and the ability to develop scalable solutions where precedent may not exist.
