Senior Hardware Engineer, Lead
Purpose of the Role
In this role, you will provide technical and execution leadership for the development of advanced Tektronix test and measurement products. You will remain hands-on with hardware while guiding key technical decisions, aligning cross-functional teams, mentoring engineers, and helping deliver complex products from requirements through production.
This is an opportunity to shape next-generation instrumentation, influence engineering practices, and make a lasting impact on both our products and our people.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, integration, and validation of complex PCB-based hardware, including schematic development, layout direction, bring-up, debug, and production release.
- Guide system-level technical decisions and tradeoffs across performance, cost, quality, manufacturability, schedule, and risk.
- Coordinate hardware development with systems, FPGA, software, mechanical, manufacturing, test, reliability, and quality teams.
- Build credible technical plans, identify risks early, and lead structured resolution of complex board-level and system-level issues.
- Lead design reviews and mentor engineers, strengthening technical capability, engineering rigor, and best practices across the team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience developing complex electronic hardware, including ownership from design or architecture through production release.
- Strong expertise in PCB design, hardware bring-up, and high-speed, analog, mixed-signal, or RF circuit design.
- Demonstrated success leading complex hardware-development efforts and driving cross-functional technical decisions.
- Strong communication, mentoring, and structured problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with test and measurement products, precision analog systems, RF/timebase circuitry, or high-speed interfaces.
- Experience with signal- or power-integrity analysis tools, RF characterization, or engineering automation using Python or MATLAB.
- Previous experience serving as a technical lead for a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid position based at the Tektronix Beaverton, Oregon campus. The role combines onsite work for collaboration, laboratory development, hardware integration, and product testing with the flexibility to work remotely when project needs allow. Candidates should live within commuting distance of the Beaverton campus.
Why Join Tektronix?
You will work on industry-leading instrumentation, solve challenging technical problems, and collaborate with experienced engineers across multiple disciplines. The role provides significant technical ownership, broad organizational influence, and the opportunity to develop other engineers while helping shape the future of electronic measurement technology.
