About Groq
Inference is the engine that powers AI, and Groq was built from the silicon up to deliver the world's fastest inference at scale. We pioneered the LPU—the first processor designed specifically for AI inference—and are transforming that innovation into a global cloud platform powering production AI workloads.

With the capital, infrastructure, and team to execute, we're uniquely positioned to define the next era of AI infrastructure. The opportunity is massive, and it's still wide open. Now let's go build it!

Mission:
Own and scale Groq’s indirect procurement operations, creating an efficient and reliable purchasing experience as the company grows. You will lead the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for indirect spend—from business intake and sourcing through negotiation, contracting, purchasing, renewal, and vendor management—while building processes that improve commercial outcomes, purchasing discipline, and the experience of internal stakeholders. You will also own Groq’s Zip procurement platform, ensuring workflows, approvals, access, and system configurations enable scalable procurement operations. This role partners closely with Legal, Finance, Accounts Payable, IT, Information Security, business leaders, and vendors and requires the ability to move between strategic procurement initiatives and hands-on execution.

Location: We prioritize hiring in or near the SF Bay Area, New York City and Dallas.

Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:
  • Own the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for indirect spend, including intake, sourcing, vendor evaluation, negotiation, contracting, purchasing, renewals, and termination.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, evaluate vendors, and shape sourcing and negotiation strategies that balance business needs, commercial outcomes, and execution speed.
  • Lead commercial negotiations across pricing, contract terms, renewals, and other business considerations.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Information Security, and other stakeholders to move vendor agreements efficiently through review and approval.
  • Build visibility into upcoming contract renewals and proactively evaluate business need, supplier performance, pricing, and alternatives.
  • Own vendor management across the indirect supplier base and develop scalable practices for supplier performance and contract management.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate vendors, improve commercial terms, eliminate unnecessary spend, and increase procurement efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary business owner and administrator for Groq’s Zip procurement platform, including workflows, approval routing, user access, and system configuration.
  • Optimize Zip workflows and the purchasing experience to improve adoption, compliance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Partner with IT and functional stakeholders on integrations, platform enhancements, testing, and system changes.
  • Help shape the expansion of procurement capabilities as Groq’s needs evolve, including areas such as direct purchasing, third-party risk management, and payments.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable to investigate and resolve purchase order, invoice, supplier, approval, and payment issues.
  • Support accurate PO matching and goods receiving, including three-way matching, and partner with Finance on month-end accrual and close activities.
  • Develop spend, supplier, and procurement reporting that improves visibility and supports business decisions.
  • Build trusted cross-functional relationships and provide practical procurement guidance to stakeholders across Groq.
  • Lead procurement initiatives and special projects that improve scalability, controls, vendor outcomes, and the internal purchasing experience.

Ideal candidates have/are:
  • 5+ years of experience in indirect procurement, strategic sourcing, procurement operations, vendor management, or a related function.
  • Demonstrated experience owning the full procurement lifecycle, including intake, sourcing, vendor evaluation, negotiation, contracting, purchasing, and renewals.
  • Strong commercial judgment and a track record of negotiating vendor pricing, terms, renewals, and other business considerations.
  • Experience partnering effectively with Legal on contract review and execution and with Finance and Accounts Payable on purchasing and spend management.
  • Hands-on experience administering or operating a procurement, procure-to-pay, or spend management platform; direct Zip experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of purchase orders, invoicing, three-way matching, supplier management, and accounts payable processes.
  • Able to manage a diverse portfolio of suppliers and procurement requests while prioritizing effectively and maintaining a strong internal stakeholder experience.
  • Analytical and comfortable using spend, supplier, and procurement data to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
  • Skilled at identifying process gaps, developing practical solutions, and implementing improvements that scale.
  • A clear and effective communicator who can collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable operating independently, taking ownership, and executing in a fast-moving, highly cross-functional environment.
  • Collaborative, curious, and focused on continuous improvement, with the judgment to balance urgency, business needs, and procurement discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, preferred.
  • Experience building or scaling procurement operations in a high-growth technology environment is preferred.
  • Experience in AI, hardware, semiconductors, cloud infrastructure, or another rapidly scaling technology environment is a plus.
  • Experience with procurement technology integrations, procure-to-pay process design, third-party risk management, or Information Security vendor reviews is a plus.
  • Experience developing supplier performance, vendor management, or contract renewal programs is a plus.
  • Experience supporting purchasing or procurement audits and strengthening purchasing controls is a plus.
  • A track record of delivering measurable savings and stronger commercial outcomes through sourcing and negotiation is preferred.
