Hybrid Roles:

Boston Scientific's hybrid workplace includes WFH and onsite. You will have the opportunity to discuss details in the interview.

About the Role

The Sr. Project Lead provides independent leadership for complex, cross-functional projects with significant impact to the CTG site and broader organization. This role leads projects from initiation through completion, establishing clear scope, deliverables, milestones, acceptance criteria, resource requirements, budgets, governance, and risk-management plans.

The Sr. Project Lead anticipates barriers, dependencies, resource constraints, and business risks; uses facts and data to evaluate alternatives; and drives timely decisions, mitigation actions, and recovery plans. The role serves as the primary site representative for assigned projects, aligns stakeholders across functions and sites, and communicates project status, risks, trade-offs, recommendations, and leadership asks at the appropriate level.

The Sr. Project Lead is expected to operate with limited direction, build strong cross-functional partnerships, mentor others in core project-management practices, and ensure that New Product Development, transfer, Value Improvement, and other strategic initiatives are delivered in accordance with business commitments, quality requirements, and CTG PMO standards.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Project Definition and Planning: Partner with sponsors and cross-functional teams to define project objectives, scope, deliverables, acceptance criteria, assumptions, resources, budget, schedule, dependencies, and success measures. Translate business needs into credible and actionable project plans.
  • Independent Project Leadership: Lead mid- to large-scale, complex projects with significant cross-functional or multi-site impact. Operate with limited direction, establish an effective governance cadence, build team ownership, and maintain accountability for commitments and outcomes.
  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Align technical, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, R&D, finance, and administrative partners around common goals and priorities. Facilitate effective collaboration, remove roadblocks, and provide relevant input to functional managers regarding team effectiveness and contributions.
  • Risk, Dependency, and Issue Management: Anticipate barriers, resource constraints, dependencies, and risks before they affect project milestones. Maintain current risk and issue logs, define mitigation and contingency actions, assign clear ownership, and escalate emerging concerns early.
  • Decision Quality and Problem Solving: Use facts, data, and structured analysis to assess alternatives, explain trade-offs, and recommend decisions that appropriately balance schedule, cost, quality, compliance, technical feasibility, and business impact.
  • Execution and Delivery: Manage initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing activities. Track performance against approved plans, proactively communicate potential milestone misses, implement recovery plans, and drive actions to closure without regular management follow-up.
  • New Product and Transfer Excellence: Lead site activities for New Product Development, product transfers, and related operational readiness. Ensure activities comply with applicable NPE, quality, change-control, validation, and project-governance requirements and that launches meet agreed business commitments.
  • Value Improvement Project Management: Lead Value Improvement initiatives in accordance with approved goals and governance. Manage cost, schedule, technical, quality, and implementation risks while ensuring benefits, assumptions, and decisions are transparent and traceable.
  • Governance, Communication, and Reviews: Provide concise, audience-appropriate communication to project teams, sponsors, R&D, site leadership, and senior leaders. Lead project, phase, business, and governance reviews; maintain decision records, meeting minutes, action and issue logs, dashboards, and other required communications.
  • Stakeholder and Customer Focus: Understand stakeholder and customer needs, establish clear expectations, communicate progress proactively, and identify opportunities to improve cross-functional outcomes and the project experience.
  • Process Discipline and Compliance: Ensure project activities and documentation comply with current policies, procedures, quality-system requirements, and CTG PMO standards. Maintain organized, audit-ready records and reinforce disciplined use of applicable project-management processes.
  • Continuous Improvement and Mentoring: Challenge ineffective approaches, improve project-management methods and documentation, capture and share lessons learned, and mentor colleagues in core practices such as DFM, DFSC, project compliance, change control, NPE, VIP, and quality.

CTG PMO Sr. Project Lead Expectations

  • Operates with increasing independence and brings forward issues with supporting facts, viable options, business impact, and a recommended path forward.
  • Is recognized by peers, sponsors, and cross-functional partners as a reliable project leader who builds trust and follows through on commitments.
  • Anticipates project risks, dependencies, and resource needs rather than reacting after milestones or business commitments are affected.
  • Consistently delivers milestones or communicates credible recovery plans before commitments are missed.
  • Influences stakeholders across functions and sites, including situations where priorities differ or direct authority is limited.
  • Develops other project leaders and advances consistent application of CTG PMO standards, tools, and governance practices.
  • Demonstrates accountability for project outcomes, stakeholder alignment, decision traceability, and timely escalation.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Licentiate degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related discipline.
  • At least seven years of relevant experience, including demonstrated leadership of significant cross-functional projects or initiatives critical to the business; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex projects, influence without direct authority, manage ambiguity, and align stakeholders across functions or sites.
  • Strong working knowledge of project planning, governance, risk management, change control, quality-system requirements, and structured problem solving.
  • Proven ability to use data to evaluate alternatives, communicate trade-offs, make recommendations, and drive timely decisions and execution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages for project teams, functional leaders, sponsors, and senior leadership.
  • English proficiency at C1 level (90–94%) or equivalent business fluency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to coach or mentor others, improve project-management practices, and promote consistent process discipline.
