Core Requirements and Responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, strategic customer implementations from initiation through successful completion. This role operates with a high degree of independence and serves as a senior point of accountability for customers, project teams, and internal stakeholders throughout the implementation lifecycle.

  • Lead multiple complex, high visibility, or strategic customer implementations, ensuring successful delivery within established scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.

  • Own the development and execution of comprehensive project plans, including project scope, milestones, resource requirements, dependencies, risks, financial performance, and customer commitments.

  • Serve as the primary project leader and trusted partner for customers, establishing strong relationships with customer stakeholders and effectively communicating with audiences ranging from project teams through executive leadership.

  • Proactively identify project risks, issues, dependencies, and barriers to success and develop mitigation strategies before they materially impact project outcomes.

  • Independently manage complex or escalated customer situations, bringing together the appropriate internal stakeholders and driving issues toward timely resolution with minimal leadership involvement.

  • Provide strategic guidance to customers throughout implementation by understanding their business objectives, operational needs, and desired outcomes and connecting those needs to the overall implementation strategy.

  • Lead cross functional project teams and coordinate resources across Professional Services and other internal teams to establish priorities, clarify responsibilities, resolve dependencies, and maintain accountability for project commitments.

  • Own project financial performance by monitoring budget versus actuals, forecasting project revenue and expenditures, identifying financial risks, and taking appropriate action to maintain project health.

  • Lead project scope and change management, including evaluating requested changes, assessing business, financial, resource, and timeline impacts, and clearly communicating recommendations and implications to customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Develop and deliver executive level project communications that provide clear visibility into project health, accomplishments, risks, decisions, financial status, and actions required.

  • Anticipate resource needs and competing priorities across assigned projects and partner with Professional Services leadership to address capacity or scheduling concerns that could affect successful delivery.

  • Facilitate critical project decisions by bringing together appropriate stakeholders, presenting options and implications, and driving alignment on a path forward.

  • Maintain strong knowledge of Vertafore products, implementation methodologies, and Professional Services processes to effectively guide complex implementations and identify potential implementation challenges.

  • Establish and reinforce project management best practices, documentation standards, governance, and accountability throughout assigned customer engagements.

  • Provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and informal mentorship to Project Managers and other project team members, helping strengthen project management capabilities and consistency across the organization.

  • Identify recurring implementation challenges, process gaps, and opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations that improve customer outcomes, project execution, and Professional Services effectiveness.

  • Demonstrate sound judgment and independent decision making, recognizing when issues can be resolved within the project team and when business, customer, financial, or organizational risk requires leadership escalation.

  • Other duties as assigned.
