Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Sr. Quality Engineer, Transitions. This is a hybrid position based out of our Beltsville, MD, East Providence, RI, or Glenolden, PA facilities.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $99000 - $145000 a year.

This position is responsible for leading all quality-related activities associated with the transition of Static Seals products between Beltsville, Maryland and Batam, Indonesia. The role serves as the primary quality interface between manufacturing sites, customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless product transfers while maintaining compliance with customer, regulatory, and Eaton quality requirements.

What you’ll do:

This position is responsible for leading all quality-related activities associated with the transition of Static Seals products between Beltsville, Maryland and Batam, Indonesia. The role serves as the primary quality interface between manufacturing sites, customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless product transfers while maintaining compliance with customer, regulatory, and Eaton quality requirements.

The Senior Quality Engineer will develop and execute transition quality plans, establish inspection strategies, coordinate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, perform First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) reviews, and manage customer approvals through customer Supplier Source Change processes. This position requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented individual with strong customer engagement skills who can proactively identify risks, drive corrective actions, and ensure quality readiness throughout the transition lifecycle.

The role will partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Program Management, and Customer Quality organizations to ensure successful qualification, transfer, and sustaining support of transition and new development products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead quality planning and execution activities for product transfers between Send and Receive Sites, ensuring all customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements are satisfied prior to production release.
  • Determine, develop, implement, and monitor inspection and verification methods necessary to meet engineering drawing and customer requirements. Establish inspection plans and acceptance criteria for transferred products and processes.
  • Lead APQP-based transition quality activities, coordinating PPAPs and qualification packages to ensure customer source approval, compliance, and production readiness.
  • Conduct detailed First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) reviews in accordance with AS9102 requirements, ensuring completeness, compliance, and readiness for customer submission and approval.
  • Serve as the primary quality representative for customer Supplier Source Change processes. Coordinate customer notifications, qualification requirements, approvals, and ongoing communications related to transition activities.
  • Proactively engage customers to establish quality expectations, communicate transition progress, resolve concerns, and facilitate successful approval of transitioned products and processes.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action through structured problem solving methodologies (A3 or 8D) associated with transition readiness, qualification findings, customer concerns, audit observations, and manufacturing quality issues. Ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented and verified.
  • Support activities required to maintain compliance with Eaton Quality Management Systems, AS9100 standards, customer and regulatory requirements, including audit support, corrective actions, Lean Six Sigma initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality, reduce variation, and improve process performance.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Program Management, and Design Engineering teams to ensure process capability, manufacturability, inspection readiness, and quality compliance throughout transition execution.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze quality KPIs and leading and lagging indicators to assess transition readiness, product quality, process performance, and customer satisfaction. Drive corrective and preventive actions and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve business and quality objectives.

Required Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) or more years of Quality, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, or Product Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • One (1) or more years of experience supporting new product introduction, product qualification, manufacturing transfers, and sustaining production programs.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FAIR, Root Cause Corrective Action (A3, 8D), and Quality Management Systems.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).   • No relocation is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of an Eaton location in Beltsville, MD, East Providence, RI, or Glenolden, PA; relocation assistance is not available. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Seven plus (7)+ years of aerospace quality, supplier quality, manufacturing, or product engineering experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience with AS9100 aerospace quality requirements and audit processes.
  • Lead Auditor Certified in quality systems.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence certification (CMQ/OE).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • One (1) or more years of experience leading Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement projects.

Position Criteria:

  • Ability to drive performance, establish standard processes, and lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong background in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), metrology, inspection methods, and process capability analysis.
  • Experience with aerospace products, complex machined components, static seals, fluid conveyance products, or related aerospace applications.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, technical data sheets, and process documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, metrology, inspection planning, and manufacturing process controls.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively engage customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Results-oriented team player with demonstrated problem-solving capability.
