Sr React Native Developer (Mobile Engineering)

Location: The role is fully remote, with Brazil preferred, although candidates across LATAM can be considered with strong English communication skills. The team works with flexible hours, with some overlap with US Central Time afternoons.

We’re looking for someone with deep React Native and Expo experience who has shipped and maintained production applications across both iOS and Android.

This is not a generalist/full-stack role with some React Native exposure. We’re looking for someone whose core expertise is mobile engineering, who is comfortable owning releases, debugging native issues, improving performance, and working within a modern Expo ecosystem.

What you'll work on

You’ll join a growing mobile engineering team responsible for two production applications used across iOS and Android.

Your work will include:

• Building smooth, responsive, high-quality mobile experiences using React Native, Expo and TypeScript.
• Owning and supporting App Store and Google Play releases, including staged rollouts.
• Working with EAS Build, EAS Update and OTA updates.
• Leading and supporting Expo SDK / React Native upgrades, including troubleshooting native issues that arise during migrations.
• Debugging native crashes, performance bottlenecks and platform-specific issues across iOS and Android.
• Working with native modules and config plugins for integrations such as camera, location, push notifications, biometrics and audio/video.
• Building and maintaining automated tests, including unit and end-to-end testing.
• Participating in architecture discussions, code reviews and mobile engineering best practices.
• Collaborating closely with Product, Design, Backend and other Engineering teams.
• Using AI-assisted development tools as part of the daily engineering workflow, while critically reviewing and validating generated code.

The team's current technical roadmap includes mobile stability and performance work, upcoming Expo SDK upgrades, a new component library, and modernization of data/state management.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of professional React Native experience.
• Strong, hands-on experience with Expo in production environments — not only bare React Native.
• Experience with EAS Build / Update, config plugins and the broader Expo ecosystem.
• Proven experience publishing and maintaining applications in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Experience owning or contributing significantly to major Expo or React Native upgrades.
• Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills.
• Experience diagnosing native crashes and mobile performance issues.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, request modeling and data management.
• Experience with modern data-fetching/caching solutions such as React Query or SWR.
• Experience with state management approaches such as Redux, Context or similar.
• Experience with automated testing using tools such as Jest, React Native Testing Library and/or Maestro.
• Understanding of the differences between iOS and Android development.
• Strong spoken and written English, as interviews and day-to-day collaboration will be in English.
• Stable professional experience demonstrating ownership of products over time.

• Real-time communication features, WebRTC or video/audio integrations
• Analytics and feature flagging tools
• Error monitoring platforms such as Sentry
• Offline-first mobile functionality
• Open-source contributions

Location & working model

Remote — LATAM

Brazil is preferred, but we're open to strong candidates elsewhere in Latin America.

You'll work in a distributed international environment, so strong English communication is essential. Some overlap with US Central Time afternoons will be required.
