MATRIX is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Scheduler to join our dynamic team. In this position, the Senior Project Scheduler will support our client's corporate Project Management Office by developing, managing, and maintaining integrated project schedules in Oracle Primavera Cloud for assigned high-value construction projects. This individual will work closely with project managers, engineering, procurement, construction teams, contractors, equipment vendors, and client stakeholders to develop executable schedules and maintain accurate visibility into project progress.
The Senior Project Scheduler will evaluate critical-path performance, identify schedule risks and constraints, perform schedule analysis, and provide reliable forecasts throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires an experienced scheduling professional who can transform complex project information into an integrated schedule that supports informed decisions, accountability, and successful project delivery.
DURATION: 12 Months
WORK SCHEDULE: TBD
LOCATION: Remote with Light Travel to Sites
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Develop, manage, and maintain detailed integrated project schedules in Oracle Primavera Cloud.
- Establish schedule structures that align with the project scope, work breakdown structure, contracting strategy, cost reporting, and execution plan.
- Integrate engineering, procurement, permitting, construction, equipment delivery, installation, commissioning, start-up, and turnover activities into a single coordinated schedule.
- Facilitate schedule-development sessions with project managers, discipline leads, contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
- Establish logical activity relationships, durations, calendars, constraints, milestones, and coding structures.
- Develop and maintain schedule baselines in accordance with approved project plans and PMO requirements.
- Collect, validate, and incorporate schedule updates from project teams, contractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors.
- Monitor actual progress against the approved baseline and current forecast.
- Analyze the critical path, near-critical activities, total float, schedule trends, milestone performance, and emerging areas of concern.
- Identify schedule risks, constraints, delays, and interface conflicts that may affect project execution.
- Evaluate the schedule impacts of design changes, procurement delays, contractor performance, field conditions, and proposed scope changes.
- Perform schedule impact analyses and support the development of mitigation, recovery, and acceleration plans.
- Review contractor and vendor schedules for completeness, logic, alignment, and compliance with project requirements.
- Integrate contractor and vendor schedules into the overall project schedule while maintaining clear ownership and traceability.
- Develop schedule scenarios and what-if analyses to support project planning and management decisions.
- Produce look-ahead schedules, milestone reports, critical-path reports, variance analyses, progress curves, and schedule narratives.
- Provide clear schedule forecasts and communicate significant changes, risks, and required decisions to project managers and PMO leadership.
- Support alignment between the project schedule, cost forecast, procurement plan, risk register, and change-control process.
- Maintain schedule quality by monitoring open ends, excessive constraints, invalid logic, negative float, out-of-sequence progress, and other scheduling concerns.
- Participate in project reviews, contractor meetings, schedule workshops, risk reviews, and executive reporting activities.
- Support project closeout by documenting final schedule performance, resolving remaining activities, and capturing scheduling lessons learned.
- Apply consistent scheduling standards, coding structures, update processes, and reporting practices across assigned projects.
- Assist the corporate PMO in improving OPC configuration, scheduling procedures, templates, dashboards, and portfolio reporting.
- Perform primarily office and non-manual work.
- Perform work related to the management or general business operations of MATRIX or its customers/clients, while exercising discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to MATRIX and its customers/clients.
- Interface with managers or head of a unit/department requiring the integration of multiple functional organizations.
- Use “lessons learned” to improve quality of MATRIX’s future projects; make recommendations to MATRIX as to the implementations of future policies and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining integrated schedules for major capital construction projects.
- Advanced working knowledge of Oracle Primavera Cloud or comparable enterprise scheduling software.
- Strong understanding of critical path method scheduling, schedule logic, float analysis, baselining, progress measurement, forecasting, and schedule change management.
- Experience integrating engineering, procurement, construction, equipment installation, commissioning, start-up, and turnover activities.
- Experience reviewing and incorporating contractor, supplier, and equipment-vendor schedules.
- Ability to evaluate schedule quality and identify incomplete logic, excessive constraints, unrealistic durations, and other scheduling deficiencies.
- Experience performing schedule impact, delay, recovery, acceleration, and what-if analyses.
- Ability to communicate complex schedule information clearly to project teams, contractors, and senior leadership.
- Strong analytical, organizational, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate schedule data for complex, high-value projects.
- Experience performing cost variance, trend, and forecast analysis across multiple projects.
- The ability to communicate well both verbally and written as a business necessity to ensure the safe and efficient operations of business. Clear, concise, and effective fluency in the English language is essential.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience scheduling specialty metals, chemical processing, advanced manufacturing, or similarly complex industrial construction projects.
- Experience supporting a corporate PMO or standardized project-controls organization.
- Experience configuring and administering project schedules within Oracle Primavera Cloud.
- Familiarity with cost-loaded and resource-loaded schedules.
