This role will contribute to the development of a unified, cloud-agnostic storage platform designed for reliability, scalability, and performance at scale.
The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain reliable backend services across the backup and restore pipeline. Working closely with Staff and Principal Engineers, this individual will contribute to technical design discussions, implement SaaS integrations, and take ownership of well-defined platform components while growing their technical autonomy and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain reliable backend services using Go to support the backup and restore pipeline.
- Build and maintain SaaS connectors integrating with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Salesforce APIs, including authentication, pagination, incremental synchronization, and error recovery.
- Develop scalable, cloud-agnostic platform capabilities to support high-volume data processing and reliable backup storage.
- Write and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests, prioritizing correctness, reliability, and maintainability throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions in collaboration with Staff and Principal Engineers.
- Take ownership of assigned components, including implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.
- Investigate, debug, and resolve production issues within areas of responsibility to maintain service reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with DevOps and other engineering teams on deployments, monitoring, operational readiness, and on-call support.
- Contribute to engineering best practices that improve code quality, system observability, and overall platform performance.
Required Qualifications
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend development.
- Proficiency in Go (Golang), or strong proficiency in another backend programming language with the ability and willingness to adopt Go as the primary language.
- Experience developing and operating backend services on cloud infrastructure, such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized application deployment.
- Working knowledge of SQL databases and API development or integration using REST and/or gRPC.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, including unit and integration testing, with an emphasis on writing tests alongside implementation.
- Experience troubleshooting software defects and resolving production issues in distributed or cloud-based environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers across different levels of technical expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating with SaaS APIs, such as Microsoft Graph, Google Workspace APIs, or Salesforce Bulk API.
- Familiarity with message queues and asynchronous processing technologies, such as Kafka, Amazon SQS, or similar solutions.
- Experience with cloud object storage services, including Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage (GCS), or Azure Blob Storage.
- Experience building data-intensive, distributed, or infrastructure-adjacent backend systems.
