SR. SOFTWARE ENGINEER (PYTHON & JAVA/ Agentic AI)

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, hands on experience with Python & Java / Agentic AI for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Argentina.

The Senior Software Engineer will use Agentic engineering to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that power the client’s AI-driven retail platform. This is a full-time, remote role, with flexibility to work from home, but requires coordination with multiple time zones. Our client provides data-driven solutions for the retail industry, helping businesses forecast demand, optimize pricing, and make more informed commercial decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in CS or Engineering (or Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, or Engineering).
• Strong foundation in Computer Science including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design.
• Proficiency in Software Development leveraging Agentic Engineering (Claude Code/Codex) with experience delivering production-quality products.
• We are specifically looking for product development experience rather than consulting.
• Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including building and maintaining APIs and microservices, and databases.
• Strong Experience with cloud platforms (especially Azure) and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Expertise in RDBMS (preferably Postgres), Data access technologies, performance tuning, and data modeling.
• Expert level in Python, and proficient in Java.
• Expertise in some of the following frameworks - FastAPI, Pydantic.AI, Pydantic 2, Polars, Pandas, Spring Boot, Enterprise Beans, Hibernate, JDBC.
• Comfort with modern development and devops practices, such as CI/CD pipelines, Agentic engineering, automated testing, and version control (e.g., Git).
• Flexibility to work with different timezones, strong problem-solving abilities, collaborative mindset, and clear communication skills in cross-functional teams.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Use Agentic engineering to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that power the client’s AI-driven retail platform.
• Handle day-to-day responsibilities including implementing new features, optimizing existing services, reviewing code, and ensuring high performance, reliability, and security across systems.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Mentor team members contribute to architecture decisions, and support continuous integration, testing, and deployment practices.
