General Description
At Crane Worldwide Logistics, we're building resilient software systems that connect critical business platforms across transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding, finance, and customer-facing applications.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a Software Integrations team, partnering closely with Technical Leads and Engineering Managers to design, build, and operate the services that connect our business platforms.

This role combines hands-on software development, system design, and mentorship. You will deliver cloud-native, event-driven integration services from design through production, contribute to architecture and technical direction, and help raise the bar for engineering quality across the team.

This role reports to the Engineering Manager and does not include direct people[1]management responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

Software Engineering

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and integrations using F# and .NET.
  • Build and maintain service-based APIs, event-driven services, and distributed systems.
  • Implement robust, high-throughput data processing and integration pipelines connecting enterprise business platforms (ERP, TMS, WMS, financial, and operational systems).

Architecture & Design

  • Contribute to the architecture and design of scalable, cloud-native integration platforms.
  • Design RESTful APIs and event-driven services that are reliable, traceable, and well tested.
  • Lead technical design reviews for team-owned initiatives, evaluate technical trade-offs, and guide system design decisions.
  • Develop and deploy services in AWS environments using Infrastructure-as-Code practices via Terraform.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions

Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Mentor engineers in software design, coding practices, and architecture.
  • Collaborate across Software Integrations teams to evolve shared engineering standards and architectural patterns.
  • Participate in technical interview rounds and provide hiring recommendations for engineering candidates.
  • Partner with technical leads and engineering leadership to onboard and develop engineers.

Physical Requirements

  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate computer equipment
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment.

Education & Experience

Required

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience designing and delivering production software systems.
  • Deep expertise within the .NET ecosystem, including strong command of C# or F#.
  • Willingness to develop F# and functional programming expertise; our systems are written in F#, and strong C# engineers are expected to ramp on the job.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service-oriented or microservices architectures.
  • Experience with message-based and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, NServiceBus, or other messaging/event streaming technologies).
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consistency, resiliency, fault tolerance, concurrency, and system scalability.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications and services using modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, and observability.
  • Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.
  • Experience analyzing and improving system performance and scalability.

Preferred

  • Experience with F# or another functional-first language, or applied functional programming patterns in C#.
  • Experience designing integrations between enterprise business systems (ERP, TMS, WMS, financial, or operational platforms).
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical teams.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Experience working in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related business domains.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
