POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Staff Systems Engineer is the technical leader within an NPI group. They are responsible for system-level design and execution of complex product development initiatives. This role leads the cross-functional engineering effort on an NPI, from concept through to commercialization. They ensure that product metrics are being met, including performance, cost, manufacturability, and quality.
The Senior Staff Systems Engineer serves as the primary technical authority for the assigned NPI team, providing system-level design guidance, advanced problem solving expertise, and mentorship to other engineering team members.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Lead system-level development for NPI projects. NPI project may include pursuing cost reduction opportunities, implementing new products or technologies, increasing performance or efficiency in existing products within BAC’s current portfolio.
• Estimate and achieve system-level performance objectives, including, but not limited to, thermal performance, airflow, power, sound, cost, etc.
• Anticipate and mitigate system-level risks through advanced modeling, simulation (CFD/FEA), performance analysis, and failure mode assessments.
• Drive root cause analysis efforts for complex challenges on NPI prototypes and testing
• Analyze competitor performance to ensure that BAC maintains a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other Systems Engineers and Design Engineers.
• Ensure compliance with global regulatory codes and standards including CTI, GB, UL, ASME, CE, PED, and other applicable requirements.
• Promote continuous improvement, global collaboration, and engineering best practices.
• Adhere to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
NATURE & SCOPE
The Senior Staff Systems Engineer reports directly to the Global Engineering Team Lead and operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. This role provides technical leadership across global, cross-functional teams including Thermal, Components, Product Ownership, Manufacturing, Engineering Systems, Supply Chain, Quality, and others. The Senior Systems Engineer is the senior-most technical decision-maker within the NPI teams and is responsible for ensuring technical alignment with project objectives.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Advanced understanding of circulating air blower systems, heating & cooling systems, and electrical systems integration.
• Expertise in component and equipment selection (fans, pumps, piping, controls, heat exchangers, etc.).
• Strong applied knowledge of fluid dynamics, airflow systems, and thermodynamics.
• Experience leading system validation and performance optimization efforts.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD systems and engineering analysis tools.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Autodesk Inventor & Vault
• 10+ years of professional experience in HVAC/refrigeration industry in product/system design, development, or field engineering roles.
• Experience with industrial control systems (software programming a plus).
• Advanced experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, and validation planning.
• Demonstrated ability to run and interpret FEA/CFD simulations to guide project decisions.
• Experience with sound and vibration analysis.
• Deep understanding of heat transfer principles and system optimization.
• Experience developing global product platforms.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification (preferred).
Required Experience/Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with 0-2 years of experience
• 7+ years of relevant industry experience.

BAC Hiring Compensation Range $98,400- $168,900
