About Us
Kyriba is a global fintech leader empowering CFOs and finance teams with cloud-based treasury, payments, risk management and working capital solutions. We serve 3,000+ customers worldwide, managing $15 trillion in payments annually and helping businesses optimize liquidity performance across the enterprise.
We're on a mission to become the most sought-after cloud technology company globally. We think big, innovate relentlessly, and challenge the status quo every day. If you are a problem-solver who’s ready to push boundaries and achieve more than you thought possible-you'll find an exceptional career within an extraordinary business.
Role Overview
Location: Warsaw (hybrid)
Type of contract: UoP
As Sr.Director of Core Platform Engineering, you will be the key executive engineering leader responsible for defining, architecting, and building Kyriba’s modern platform ecosystem. Reporting to Senior Engineering Leadership, you will lead a world-class team of Software Engineers, Platform Engineers, System Architects, and Engineering Managers based in Warsaw, Poland.
Your mission is to spearhead the structural platformization of Kyriba's core infrastructure. You will establish and execute a cohesive engineering strategy that transforms shared applicative capabilities, centralized data pipelines, and AI enablement tooling into reusable, highly scalable platform services. By managing internal platform capabilities with a product mindset, you will empower autonomous, cross-functional product squads to build, deploy, and scale financial software applications safely, rapidly, and with exceptional reliability.
Strategic SaaS Modernization & Architecture Roadmap
Kyriba's global growth trajectory requires a platform architecture capable of supporting exponential transaction volumes, multi-cloud deployments, and real-time event processing. The Director of Platform Engineering will directly oversee the technical execution of this architectural evolution across four strategic vectors:
- Monolith Deconstruction & Microservices Architecture: Systematically decouple core domain logic from legacy monolithic engines into domain-driven microservices. Establish strict API boundaries, standardized domain models, and containerized deployment pipelines using Kubernetes and modern service mesh technologies.
- Real-Time Event-Driven Architecture: Transition core financial transaction workflows from overnight batch processing to real-time event streaming powered by Apache Kafka and event-driven microservices. Enable immediate cash visibility, continuous risk calculations, and real-time payment status tracking.
- AI & Agentic Workflow Enablement: Construct the underlying platform infrastructure required to integrate Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic AI workflows, predictive cash forecasting models, and vector stores into the product suite, ensuring robust auditability and low-latency execution.
- Internal Developer Platform (IDP) & Self-Service Infrastructure: Build an intuitive internal platform portal and automated tooling suite that enables product teams to provision cloud resources, create microservice boilerplate templates, set up observability dashboards, and manage deployment pipelines independently.
Expected Outcomes
- Platform Strategy & Vision: Define and execute a unified, multi-year roadmap spanning applicative platformization, shared foundational capabilities, and AI developer enablement to accelerate product squad velocity.
- Reusable Capabilities: Architect and deliver highly resilient shared foundation components, including AI agent orchestration, event-streaming pipelines, workflow engines, and distributed data replication services.
- Squad Operating Model: Structure, recruit, and scale autonomous, product-minded engineering squads with clear domain boundaries, strong mission ownership, and rigorous delivery metrics.
- Service Standards & Tooling: Enforce consistent API contracts, standard event formats, strict Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and intuitive self-service developer portals to eliminate cross-team bottlenecks.
- Enterprise Governance & Security: Ensure all core platform services and agentic AI workflows comply with high-availability enterprise financial standards, robust auditability, and fine-grained access control.
- Reliability & Scalability: Drive continuous performance optimization, fault tolerance, and multi-region resilience across all platform microservices and data pipelines.
- Leadership & Talent Bench: Cultivate an engineering culture of excellence, mentoring Engineering Managers, Staff/Principal Engineers, and technical leads across global sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Product Management: Treat platform features as internal products, establishing customer feedback loops with application teams to drive adoption and measure developer satisfaction.
- Technical Execution: Oversee the end-to-end design, implementation, and lifecycle management of platform microservices, shared UI libraries, and data access layers.
- Architectural Alignment: Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Cloud Infrastructure teams to align platform deliverables with cloud-native best practices.
- Operational Excellence: Establish robust incident management, observability practices, continuous deployment pipelines, and proactive capacity planning across all owned domains.
Cross-Functional Executive Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Management, Information Security, Cloud Operations, and Customer Success to ensure technical platform milestones align directly with key business objectives and customer SLAs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Platform Leadership: Proven track record leading Platform, Distributed Systems, or AI Engineering organizations for large-scale enterprise SaaS platforms.
- Architecture Expertise: Deep domain knowledge in event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka), API design, workflow engines, distributed databases, and high-throughput data processing.
- Legacy Modernization: Hands-on experience platformizing monoliths into modern, cloud-native microservices and shared capabilities without disrupting business continuity.
- Product Mindset: Demonstrated capability to manage internal developer tools as products, balancing technical debt reduction with feature delivery.
- AI & Automation Integration: Understanding of modern AI/ML infrastructure, agentic workflows, LLM orchestration platforms, and vector data storage solutions.
- Scale & Leadership Experience: 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, with at least 5 years managing multi-squad platform organizations and scaling distributed engineering talent in international settings.
- Education & Technical Foundation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
Operational Excellence, Reliability & Metrics
Because Kyriba handles billions of dollars in daily corporate treasury transactions, platform reliability, availability, and performance are paramount. The Director of Platform Engineering will establish and hold teams accountable to key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational standards:
- Service Level Objectives (SLOs) & Availability: Maintain 99.99% availability across all platform core services, defining clear Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and enforcing actionable Error Budget policies.
- Developer Velocity & Efficiency: Track DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, Mean Time to Restore, Change Failure Rate) across all application squads to continually eliminate build and deployment friction.
