The Staff Accountant is a team member who reports directly to the VP, Controller assisting with various accounting processes. The Staff Accountant will assist with accounting processes such as month end closing, bank account reconciliation, general ledger reconciliations, fixed asset management, and journal entries. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for transactional, operational, and strategic management of accounts payable. Accounts payable processes include all aspects of expense management such as corporate credit card, expense reimbursements, and accounts payable processing and reconciliation. This position will support multi-entity and multi-location operations. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting and Compliance Perform month-end accounting close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and other reporting schedules and data analysis. Prepare journal entries accurately and timely in accordance with the close calendar. Prepare bank reconciliations and research reconciling items throughout the month. Research month-end variance to budget as needed. Assist with year-end closing and audit requests. Maintain internal control policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Expense Management Manage the full expense management process from receipt of invoices to payment. Ensure expense compliance including all receipts are attached, transactions are within policy, approval obtained, and complete reconciliations. Responsible for IRS 1099 compliance and reporting. Manage vendor relations and build effective partnerships. Partner with Leadership and identify and implement process improvements. Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing of invoices. Verifying expenses are charged to the correct legal entity, account, department, and location. Ensure on time month end closing of AP including AP accruals and all related account reconciliations. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (preferred), Finance, or related field. 1 to 3 years related experience with proven accounting and Excel skills. Knowledge of basic accounting principles. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. High degree of attention to detail. Strong analytic abilities. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, autonomous, entrepreneurial environment. Results orientation with excellent follow-through. Ability to self-manage workflow and deliverables. Excellent communication skills with diverse constituents; clear writer and facilitator. Superb personal organization skills and acute attention to detail. Willingness to offer and respond positively to feedback. Preferred Skills & Qualifications: Current eligibility or desire to obtain eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.
