Role Description The Staff Accountant is a full-time, remote role based in Utah, Colorado or Wyoming. This position is responsible for daily bookkeeping activities, including recording journal entries, reconciling bank and investment accounts, and maintaining the general ledger. The role includes preparing financial statements, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and assisting with budgeting and cash flow tracking. The Staff Accountant will help ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements by organizing documentation and coordinating with external advisors. The position also involves responding to internal inquiries, producing ad hoc financial reports, and contributing to the improvement of accounting procedures and controls. Qualifications 3–5 years of experience in: General ledger and chart of accounts maintenance Accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and amortization Financial statements Debits, credits, and account classifications Journal entries Month-end close process Account reconciliations U.S. GAAP / IFRS Accounts payable and accounts receivable Strong ability to communicate clearly to team members and leaders. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential financial information. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus. Experience in a family office, private wealth management, or similar environment is beneficial but not required.
