We're looking for a detail-oriented, dependable Staff Accountant to own day-to-day accounting delivery for a portfolio of our clients. What you'll do
- Client Accounting Delivery: Provide weekly accounting support across an assigned portfolio of clients, managing accounts receivable and accounts payable and performing historical financial cleanup for new or transitioning clients.
- Month-End Close & Reconciliations: Own general ledger management and month-end close, completing monthly reconciliations across bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts, while maintaining accurate books on both cash and accrual bases depending on client needs.
- Payroll & Financial Compliance: Process client payroll and related payroll accounting, track fixed assets and record depreciation, apply revenue recognition principles appropriately by client and engagement, and support chart of accounts design and cleanup.
- Process & Systems Management: Work daily in QuickBooks Online (QBO) as our core accounting platform, document processes and maintain internal controls for each client, and keep accurate task and status tracking in ClickUp.
- Client Relationship Support: Serve as a day-to-day resource for assigned clients on bookkeeping and accounting questions, responding directly to routine AR/AP inquiries and routing more complex ones appropriately.
- Escalation & Judgment: Proactively escalate issues to the Controller or CFO when scope, judgment calls, or client risk exceed staff-level authority, keeping communication clear and timely.
What you'll bring
- Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required; this is our core platform and the most important skill for this role.
- Comfort quickly learning other platforms such as Gusto, ADP, Bill.com, and Ramp.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2-3 years of bookkeeping or staff accountant experience.
- Solid understanding of both cash and accrual accounting methods.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients and entities at once.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive mindset: you know when to solve something yourself and when to flag it up the chain.
- Availability during standard U.S. working hours.
- A reliable internet connection and a dedicated home workspace.
