Staff Accountant

Location: Charlotte, NC (Primarily remote with required in-person attendance 1-2 times per month)
Department: Finance (Accounting)
Reports To: Vice President, Controller

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of accounting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, intellectually curious, eager to learn, and willing to take ownership of assigned responsibilities while contributing to a fast-paced environment.

This role will support various accounting functions, including accounts payable, payroll, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, and other general accounting tasks. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and exposure to a broad range of accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and timely.
  • Review invoices for proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payments, and account inquiries.
  • Prepare and process weekly payment runs, including ACH, wire, and check payments.
  • Assist with maintaining vendor records and resolving discrepancies.

Payroll Support
  • Assist with payroll entries & reconciliations, conduct payroll review to ensure GL data accuracy, and collaborate with HR to resolve any payroll reconciliation discrepancies.
General Accounting
  • Prepare and maintain account reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Record journal entries and support general ledger maintenance.
  • Support audit and tax preparation by gathering requested documentation.
  • Help improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Qualifications:

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
