Staff Consulting Architect - NDB

The Opportunity Nutanix is seeking a Staff Consulting Architect – Nutanix Database Service (NDB) to architect, design, and deliver enterprise Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platforms across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, helping enterprise customers modernize their database platforms through architecture, hands-on delivery, automation, and operational transformation. You will combine deep expertise in database administration, virtualization, automation, and database lifecycle management to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable database platforms supporting Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and other enterprise database technologies. You will report to the Manager, Professional Services, who will support your professional growth and success within the organization. Your Role Database Platform Assessments & Architecture •Lead customer discovery workshops and technical assessments to understand database modernization goals, operational requirements, and business objectives. •Design enterprise Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platforms using Nutanix Database Service (NDB), defining database blueprints, provisioning standards, high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies. •Architect database platforms across Nutanix AHV and hybrid cloud environments, including Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) on AWS and Azure. Database Platform Implementation & Modernization •Deploy Nutanix Database Service (NDB) and implement automated database provisioning, patching, cloning, point-in-time recovery, lifecycle management, and zero-downtime database upgrades. •Lead database migration and modernization initiatives from legacy or physical environments to Nutanix-based platforms while maintaining consulting scope and delivery quality. Automation & Platform Integration •Develop automated database workflows using REST APIs, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation technologies. •Integrate database lifecycle automation with CI/CD pipelines, ITSM platforms, enterprise monitoring solutions, and operational processes. Database Operations & Optimization •Manage enterprise database lifecycle operations, including backup, recovery, cloning, patching, encryption, resource optimization, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and performance tuning. •Troubleshoot complex database platform issues while optimizing database availability, scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency. Technical Leadership & Practice Development •Lead customer architecture workshops and technical design sessions while providing guidance throughout project delivery. •Mentor consultants and share technical knowledge across the Professional Services organization. •Develop reusable Practice Development assets, including Service Enablement Kits (SEKs), database blueprints, automation scripts, reference architectures, implementation playbooks, and operational runbooks to improve delivery consistency and quality. What You Will Bring •10+ years of experience in database administration, infrastructure engineering, database platform architecture, or enterprise database solutions. •Experience in customer-facing consulting, Professional Services, Customer Success, or technical advisory roles delivering enterprise infrastructure, cloud, or platform solutions. •Database Platforms: Deep hands-on experience designing, deploying, administering, and optimizing enterprise relational database platforms, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent technologies. •Database Lifecycle Management: Strong experience with database provisioning, cloning, patching, backup, recovery, snapshot technologies, Oracle RAC, high availability, disaster recovery, and lifecycle automation. •Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Experience developing automation using REST APIs, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies to automate database operations. •Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure: Strong understanding of Nutanix AHV, VMware vSphere, hybrid cloud environments, and enterprise infrastructure supporting database platforms. •Consulting & Leadership: Proven experience leading customer workshops, facilitating architecture discussions, managing technical stakeholders, and building trusted advisor relationships throughout complex consulting engagements. Demonstrated ability to mentor consultants, navigate technical challenges, and drive successful customer outcomes. •Communication & Documentation: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills with proven experience authoring High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), implementation plans, database architectures, migration strategies, and operational runbooks. Preferred Qualifications •Experience with enterprise database management platforms such as Nutanix Database Service (NDB), VMware Data Services Manager (DSM), AWS RDS Custom, Azure Arc, or equivalent solutions. •Experience with containerized databases, Kubernetes Operators, StatefulSets, cloud-native database technologies, and DevOps database automation. •Industry certifications such as Nutanix NCP-DB/NCP-MCI, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft DP-300, VMware VCP, or equivalent. •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Work Arrangement Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
