We're looking for a Staff Engineer to join our engineering team and help shape the technical direction of our full-stack vehicle data platform. In this role, you'll work across the entire stack — from high-throughput data ingestion and API design to the web interfaces our customers rely on every day. You'll serve as a technical anchor for cross-functional teams, mentor senior engineers, and drive decisions that affect how we scale, integrate, and deliver vehicle data at a massive scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Architect and deliver full-stack features across backend services, APIs, and frontend applications that power our vehicle data platform.
- Design and own scalable, high-availability systems for ingesting, processing, and serving large volumes of automotive data.
- Define engineering standards, patterns, and best practices adopted across multiple squads.
- Partner with Product to translate complex vehicle data requirements into elegant technical solutions.
- Lead technical design reviews, provide actionable code and architecture feedback, and raise the bar for engineering quality.
- Identify and resolve systemic performance, reliability, and scalability bottlenecks across the stack.
- Mentor and develop senior and mid-level engineers through coaching, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to evolve our cloud-native architecture.
- Contribute to hiring by conducting technical interviews and helping define engineering leveling criteria.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years operating at a Staff or Principal level.
- Deep expertise in full-stack development — strong backend fundamentals (Python, Go, Node.js, or Java) paired with modern frontend skills (React, TypeScript).
- Proven track record designing distributed systems, data pipelines, or high-throughput APIs at scale.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized, microservices-based architectures.
- Strong grasp of relational and NoSQL databases; experience with time-series or graph data is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills — able to articulate complex trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in the automotive, telematics, fleet, or mobility industry is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction without direct authority.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience working with AI as part of software development process.
- Background in building data marketplace or B2B data-as-a-service platforms.
- Contributions to open-source projects or published technical writing.
