Staff Engineer / Developer (Full Stack TypeScript Node React AWS) Remote UK / WFH to £90k

Are you a product focussed Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems but also wants to influence what gets built and why?

You could be progressing your career in a hands-on Staff Engineer role at a scaling Fintech who have built a highly complex, real-time energy trading platform to revolutionise energy buying for large industrial and commercial users.

As a Staff Engineer you'll join a product led technology team where you'll sit at the intersection of engineering and product, understanding customer needs and translating them into effective technical solutions. You'll work across multiple teams to understand what's working, identify challenges and help shape both technical and product decisions.

You'll be hands-on across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through development, testing and deployment. The technology stack is TypeScript, Node.js, React and AWS, so you'll need strong experience across all four, alongside a solid understanding of distributed and scalable systems.

As a Staff Engineer, you'll provide technical ownership across the team, making key architectural decisions, tackling the hardest engineering problems and helping set the direction for the platform. You'll also contribute directly to product discussions, bringing your technical expertise and customer understanding to decisions about priorities and solutions.

This is a modern engineering environment with a strong focus on AI assisted development. You'll use tools such as Claude Code as part of your workflow, so you'll need to understand, evaluate and take ownership of AI generated code rather than simply accepting the output.

Location / WFH:

There's a remote first policy so you can work from home on a full time basis.

About you:

• You're a technically strong, product minded engineer who enjoys working across teams
• You have experience with TypeScript, Node.js, React and AWS
• You're keen to remain hands-on whilst operating at Staff Engineer level, taking ownership and making technical decisions
• You have strong commercial awareness and a genuine interest in building products that solve real customer problems
• You have a good understanding of distributed, scalable, complex systems
• You use Clause code in your day-to-day and understand its limitations, able to review output
• You're collaborative with great communication skills
