Staff Engineer/Tech Lead, Agentic Payments (AI Commerce & Browser Automation)
ReapStaff Engineer/Tech Lead, Agentic Payments (AI Commerce & Browser Automation) About Reap Reap is a global financial technology company headquartered in Hong Kong with employees across multiple countries. We enable financial connectivity and access for businesses worldwide by combining traditional finance with stablecoins for efficient money movement. Through our stablecoin-powered corporate cards, payments, and expense management tools, we streamline financial operations and help businesses scale. Our APIs enable businesses to integrate stablecoin-enabled finance into their own products and services—from issuing Visa cards to facilitating cross-border payments. Backed by leading investors including Acorn Pacific, Index Ventures and HashKey Capital, Reap is building the future of borderless, stablecoin-enabled finance. About the Role We're looking for a Staff Engineer/Tech Lead to make Agentic Payments real at Reap. AI agents are starting to hold payment credentials and execute purchases autonomously, and this is largely uncharted territory, both for the industry and for us, with the rails for it cutting across every part of our platform. Existing cards and payments infrastructure at Reap predates agentic flows. You'll drop into those systems, work alongside the product and engineering teams who own them, and be responsible for adding agentic support where it needs to live. The hard skill here is adaptability, both ways: shaping something new with no existing blueprint, and getting productive fast in a system you didn't write, earning the trust of the team you've joined, and shipping with them rather than around them. What You’ll Do Design and ship agentic capabilities, from card enrollment and spend controls to checkout execution. Work across both structured agentic-commerce protocols and custom checkout automation. Own agentic features end-to-end across team boundaries: build it where it needs to live, and operate it in production. Help shape the agentic payments roadmap, including deciding what needs to be built in the first place, then turn those decisions into shipped infrastructure. Collaborate directly with product, founders, and the teams whose systems you're embedding in. What We’re Looking For 5-8+ years of professional backend engineering experience. Strong API design skills: designing clean, versioned, consumer-facing contracts. A track record of dropping into unfamiliar codebases and shipping quickly, using AI tools and modern development practices to move fast: experience with platform/infra roles, or being the person teams pull in when something needs to cross system boundaries. Genuine, demonstrated engagement with the agentic-commerce space (protocols, card-network programs, or browser-automation infrastructure), whether through building, following closely, or experimenting on your own. Strong product sense: knows how to take a capability from idea to production without a detailed spec handed to you. Low ego and high adaptability: you build with the teams you join, not around them. Clear communication and the ability to work autonomously in a fully remote, async team. Nice to Have Hands-on experience building with, or a deep understanding of, agentic-commerce protocols (e.g. ACP, UCP, AP2). Hands-on experience building with, or a deep understanding of, card-network agentic programs (e.g. Visa Intelligent Commerce, Visa Trusted Agent Protocol, Mastercard Agent Pay). Hands-on experience building, or a deep understanding of, browser-automation infrastructure (e.g. Playwright/Puppeteer, or frameworks like browser-use, Notte, Skyvern). Experience with payments, card issuing, or fintech infrastructure. Curiosity about Web3, stablecoins, or the Web2 ↔ Web3 intersection. Startup experience where you've worn multiple hats and crossed team lines. Our Stack Backend: TypeScript (NestJS/Elysia) Async Jobs: AWS Lambda, SQS, EventBridge Database: Postgres (Aurora) Infrastructure: AWS CI/CD: GitHub Actions + automated testing and deployment workflows Tooling: GitHub, Slack, Notion, Linear, Graphite Your Adventure Benefits A high-impact role in a rapidly growing fintech startup Flexible remote work environment with a global, collaborative team Use of AI tools at work — and the space to learn, experiment, and grow with them A culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning Frontier Problem: Agentic payments is being defined right now. You'll build infrastructure that lets AI agents move real money safely. Range: Work across our entire platform rather than one narrow service. You'll see and shape more of how Reap works than almost anyone. High Ownership: You design, build, and operate your features — no tickets dropped on your lap. High Impact: Your code moves real money for real businesses globally. After submitting your application, please check your inbox for a confirmation email.
