The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for end-to-end sourcing and supplier management for third-party buyouts supporting engineered gas skid and station solutions for mission-critical data center gas power infrastructure. Working in close collaboration with the corporate Center of Excellence, Engineering, Project Management, Quality, Finance, and Operations, this role develops and executes sourcing strategies that ensure safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective delivery from supplier qualification and competitive bid through fabrication, testing, commissioning support, and lifecycle performance.

The successful candidate combines strategic sourcing expertise, technical understanding of gas measurement and regulation systems, and disciplined project execution. The role owns supplier capacity, quality, cost, schedule, risk, and commercial performance for complex engineered-to-order packages and critical equipment used to provide dependable fuel-gas supply, accurate flow and energy measurement, gas-quality assurance, equipment protection, and continuous operational visibility.

You will report directly to our General Manager Regional LOB and you’ll work out of our Houston, TX on a Hybrid work schedule. Note: New Hires may need to work 100% onsite Monday – Friday for the first 90 days.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute project and category sourcing strategies for gas skids, metering and regulation stations, packaged systems, and associated third-party equipment.
Lead the full sourcing lifecycle, including market analysis, supplier identification, requests for information and quotation, technical and commercial bid evaluation, negotiation, selection, contracting, purchase-order placement, and supplier closeout.
Partner with the corporate Center of Excellence to leverage enterprise agreements, preferred suppliers, category strategies, and sourcing standards while meeting project-specific requirements.
Establish and maintain strategic relationships with skid fabricators, equipment manufacturers, integrators, and service providers.
Align project demand, engineering release dates, supplier capacity, lead times, and logistics plans to support customer delivery milestones.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, warranties, liquidated-damages provisions, lead times, change-order mechanisms, intellectual-property protections, and other commercial terms while managing total cost and risk.
Assess supplier financial health, operational capacity, technical capability, quality systems, geographic footprint, and continuity risks; develop mitigation and dual-source plans where appropriate.
Define supplier performance expectations and manage scorecards for quality, on-time delivery, cost, responsiveness, documentation, safety, and continuous improvement.
Support technical bid evaluations and ensure supplier proposals comply with specifications, applicable codes, approved deviations, documentation requirements, and testing obligations.
Coordinate supplier execution through design reviews, submittal approval, fabrication, inspection, factory acceptance testing, shipment, installation support, commissioning, and final documentation.
Lead supplier issue resolution, recovery planning, corrective actions, escalation, and claims management to protect project schedule, quality, and margin.
Drive value engineering, standardization, modularization, should-cost analysis, and productivity initiatives without compromising safety, performance, or compliance.
Maintain accurate sourcing plans, commitments, forecasts, cost estimates, risk registers, supplier records, and executive-level project updates.
Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing requirements, trade controls, import and export regulations, and applicable customer and industry standards.

YOU MUST HAVE

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related discipline.
Progressive experience (6+ years) in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or project supply chain for engineered equipment, industrial automation, energy infrastructure, natural-gas systems, or comparable capital projects.
Demonstrated experience managing the full sourcing and contracting lifecycle for complex engineered-to-order equipment and third-party buyouts.
Working knowledge of supplier qualification, competitive bidding, contract negotiation, cost analysis, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation.
Ability to interpret technical specifications, bills of material, data sheets, drawings, commercial proposals, and project schedules.
Strong commercial judgment, analytical capability, negotiation skills, and financial acumen.
Proven ability to influence suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders in a matrixed environment and resolve complex execution issues.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting and supplier-facing communication.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel to supplier, fabrication, customer, and project locations as required.
