About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Structural Drafter to support our structural engineering team in preparing accurate, detailed and constructible structural drawings and documentation.

The successful candidate will work closely with structural engineers and project teams to develop structural drawings from concept through to construction documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed structural drawings based on engineering designs, calculations and mark-ups.
• Produce structural plans, sections, elevations and construction details.
• Draft reinforced concrete structures, including slabs, beams, columns, walls, footings and foundations.
• Prepare structural steel plans and connection/detail drawings.
• Produce basement, retaining wall and excavation-related structural drawings.
• Develop and maintain accurate structural CAD/BIM models.
• Incorporate engineering revisions and consultant/client comments into drawings.
• Coordinate structural drawings with architectural, civil, hydraulic and other consultant documentation.
• Check drawings for accuracy, consistency, constructability and compliance with project requirements.
• Prepare drawing sets for development applications, construction documentation and construction issue.
• Assist engineers with revisions, documentation and project deliverables.
• Maintain drawing standards, templates, layers, naming conventions and document control.
• Participate in coordination with engineers, architects, builders and other project stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• Diploma, certificate or equivalent qualification in drafting, engineering drafting, architecture or a related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in structural drafting, preferably within a consulting engineering environment.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience producing structural drawings for building projects.
• Good understanding of structural plans, sections, details and construction documentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, sketches, calculations and mark-ups.
• Understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel construction.
• Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Software

The ideal candidate will have experience with some or all of the following:

• AutoCAD
• Revit Structure
• Microsoft Office
• BIM/document management platforms

Experience with other structural drafting or BIM software is also welcome.
