Responsibilities Apply advanced and diversified structural engineering principles and practices across a broad range of project assignments. Independently analyze engineering challenges and determine appropriate methods and solutions, developing innovative and practical design approaches as needed. Serve as Lead Project Engineer on assigned projects, including stamping and sealing drawings and documents when licensed, and acting as the professional in responsible charge in accordance with applicable jurisdictional statutes. Represent the firm in client meetings, workshops, and conferences to resolve technical issues, coordinate project execution, and support long‑term client relationships. Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct medium to large engineering projects, or multiple smaller complex projects, with overall responsibility for budget, schedule, quality control, and multidisciplinary coordination. Review and approve major materials, equipment, manufacturer qualifications, and field construction activities, including exercising authority to accept or reject work as required. Act as a technical resource or internal consultant within the discipline, providing specialized expertise and guidance on complex or unconventional engineering challenges. Provide technical direction and oversight related to project objectives, critical issues, new concepts, policy considerations, and non‑routine engineering conditions. Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of engineers and designers assigned to the same project, ensuring technical accuracy, consistency, and alignment with overall project scope. Define project scopes of work and break them into manageable tasks to support efficient project delivery. Proactively identify and communicate potential scope changes, risks, or impacts to project managers and supervisors. Mentor junior engineers and technicians by providing guidance in structural engineering fundamentals, software tools, and applicable codes and standards. Engage in continuing professional education to remain current with evolving codes, standards, and industry best practices. Participate in client engagement and business development efforts, including proposal support and technical discussions. Meet with clients to define project scope, present progress updates, address concerns, and ensure overall client satisfaction. Support risk management efforts by identifying potential design vulnerabilities related to seismic performance, load paths, and material durability in accordance with local and national codes. Perform and review structural and seismic design for industrial, manufacturing, and data center facilities, including work in Seismic Design Categories D, E, and F. Contribute to the structural design of concrete, steel, and foundation systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project requirements. Utilize tools such as Bluebeam and Navisworks to support design coordination, review, and documentation. Travel to project sites as needed to support design, coordination, and field activities. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Demonstrated experience leading structural engineering projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams, typically 8+ years. Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards, including those related to seismic design and structural systems. Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams in both technical and non‑technical settings. Ability to manage multiple priorities and exercise sound engineering judgment in complex situations. Experience with structural engineering for industrial, manufacturing, and data center facilities. Experience with seismic design, including projects in Seismic Design Categories D, E, and F. Proficiency in structural design of concrete, steel, and foundation systems. Familiarity with digital tools such as Bluebeam and Navisworks for design review and coordination. Valid driver’s license (may be waived for international assignments). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience serving as Lead Project Engineer with responsibility for budget, schedule, quality control, and multidisciplinary coordination. Experience stamping and sealing structural drawings and documents as a licensed Professional Engineer. Acting as a technical resource or internal consultant on complex or unconventional engineering challenges. Experience mentoring junior engineers and technicians in structural engineering fundamentals, software tools, and codes. Exposure to risk management practices related to seismic performance, load paths, and material durability. Experience participating in client engagement, proposal development, and business development discussions. Interest in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with evolving codes, standards, and industry best practices. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
