Student Attachee

About The Role

Vapor Technologies is opening a Student Attachee position for people who want more than a single-department internship. Over four months, you rotate through the actual engine room of a growing Kenyan software company: development, digital marketing, customer acquisition and sales, and the business and legal fundamentals that keep a company legally and financially real. If you leave this attachment only knowing how to write code, or only how to run ads, the program has failed you.

Program Structure (4 Months)

• Development — ship real features on production Laravel/Livewire applications used by paying clients
• Digital Marketing — plan and execute content, social, and growth work for Vapor's own products and select client accounts
• Customer Acquisition & Sales — sit in on client calls, help build pipeline, learn how deals actually close
• Business & Commercial Law Basics — contracts, compliance, and the paperwork that makes a company legally real (NDAs, service agreements, statutory basics)
  
  

Rotation is structured but not rigid. Attachees who show unusual strength in one area may get more depth there instead of a strict round-robin through all four.

What We're Looking For

This Is Deliberately Hard To Get Into. We Are Not Looking For People Who Want a Checklist Of Fully-scoped Tasks Emailed To Them Every Monday. We Are Looking For People Who

• Can take a vague brief and turn it into a plan without being told exactly what to do
• Ask "why" before "how," and will push back when something doesn't make sense
• Are genuinely new to at least two of the four scopes above and comfortable with that
• Can document and explain their own work well enough that someone else could pick it up cold
• Want to understand how a software company actually runs end-to-end, not just observe one function of it
  
  

If what you actually want is a supervisor who hands you fully scoped tasks and checks your work daily, this attachment will be a poor fit for both of us. Say so honestly in your application — it isn't a disqualifier for other roles, but it is for this one.

How This Works

• Fully remote. Work from wherever you are.
• 1–2 physical meetups in Nairobi over the 4 months — for team alignment, in-person reviews, and putting faces to the names on Slack.
• Flexible hours. We care about output, not clock-in times. Meet your deliverables and deadlines and you decide when you work.
• Deliverable-based accountability. You'll have clear weekly or bi-weekly outputs. Miss them repeatedly without communicating, and the attachment ends early.
  
  

What You'll Gain

• Mentorship from the people running these functions day to day, not a generic training curriculum
• A completion reference that means something, because you will have shipped and delivered, not just observed
• Possibility of retention. Attachees who perform strongly across the program are considered first for full-time roles as they open up. This is not guaranteed and not the default outcome — it is earned.
