Department Overview:

The Charter Street Heating & Cooling Plant and the Walnut Street Heating & Cooling Plant supply steam, chilled water, compressed air, and electricity to the UW campus, as well as to UW Hospital & Clinics, the US Forest Service Forest Products Laboratories, and the Division of Veterans Affairs VA Hospital, and some other non-campus customers.

Qualifications:

Required: Ability to operate scanning and printing equipment, and to organize digital data.

Preferred: Ability to read/interpret P&ID's, one-line diagrams, and industrial user manuals; ability to operate label makers of various type

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Basic Computer/MS Office skills

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The UW Madison Heating & Cooling Plant is looking for a student associate to help with sorting, scanning, and organizing physical documents and manuals for the plant's equipment, and to perform various other operational/maintenance support functions. Good candidates will be able to interpret and categorize different types of technical documents, have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, and be comfortable working in an industrial utility environment.

Physical Demands:

Ability to work in a loud industrial environment, some walking around the plants, up and down stairs and ladders. Occasional work in extreme temperatures (Over 100° F)
