We are looking for a Student Intern for our Marine Cargo Underwriting line of business, working a hybrid scheduled based in the New York City office.
Your Team
Cargo insurance for large businesses is a type of insurance that protects businesses from financial losses resulting from the damage, loss, or theft of their cargo while in transit. This type of insurance is essential for large businesses that ship large quantities of goods, as it can help to offset the costs of replacing or repairing damaged or lost cargo.

The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the North America Regional Head of Marine Cargo, the Intern will participate with and contribute to the Marine Cargo Team. The internship program is designed to provide the intern with an opportunity to apply a macro understanding of risk in the real world by working side-by-side with our risk consulting,, underwriting and operational support team professionals. Interns will participate in a wide range of learning and development opportunities including job shadows, attendance at internal meetings, speaking engagements and events designed to expose the intern to other areas of Allianz Commercial.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
Exposure to the identification and analysis of risk and loss control advice. Continue exposure and education in the underwriting of the risk selection, and retention on accounts. Some activities will cross Line of Business in nature and may allow for a full spectrum of the capabilities of the Allianz Risk Consulting Team
Collaborate on a proof of concept for a new product offering or research. Will be given other projects that can be completed within the length of the internship. Participate in a wide range of learning and development activities focused on immersing the intern into how insurance works.
Pulling data from various sources and enter into excel; run reports, in order to analyze the department book's performance and monitor progress.
Scan and save file documentation retrieved from boxes into appropriate accounts.
Create presentations for the department which details the features, advantages and benefits of new products.
Development of complex Microsoft Word and Excel documents to be used as department templates.
Assist with admin tasks as required.
What You’ll Bring to the Role –
Currently pursuing university or college degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance or related discipline
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Basic office related work experience
Knowledge of basic computer operations including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft office applications
Ability to apply field of study learnings to the internship
Knowledge of basic math skills – strong aptitude for numbers
Self-starter with the ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills
A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential.

The company offers a pay rate of $30 per hour for this internship. This is a Full time 10-week Summer Internship which will begin in early July 2027.
