Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. The subteam for this role will be:
The Onboard developer platform team builds tools/solutions that enable faster model training, quality evaluation, simulation so that Waymo engineers can develop better autonomous driving models and systems.

You will:
- Understand the problem current LPM model is trying to solve along with its details
- Extend current reinforcement learning infrastructure and conduct experiments on our RL system. Tune parameters and compare with existing results
- Identify promising new RL technologies and apply on Waymo problems
You have:
- Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in software engineering, machine learning, or a related technical field
- Fundamental understanding of machine learning and reinforcement learning
- 2+ years of project experience involves coding and realized achievements (you are proud of the results)
We prefer:
- 3+ years of experience on ML or RL with hands-on projects
- 2+ years of experience on optimizing system infrastructure ( simulation, ML/RL, or other backend systems)
- Experience in working with autonomous driving or relevant technologies
