The Supplier Technical Qualification Engineer Lead directs and develops a team responsible for second‑source and alternate‑source qualifications, ensuring a resilient and high‑quality supply base. This role partners with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality / Mission Assurance and Program teams to validate supplier capability, assess risk, and confirm configuration, performance, and manufacturing readiness. The Lead is accountable for implementing second source risk framework across various commodities, aligning technical expertise to external capacity projects, and overseeing evaluation, testing, RCCA validation, and qualification activities to meet program cost, schedule, and quality objectives.


What You Will Do

  • Lead and develop a team executing second‑source supplier qualifications for Critical Munitions Acceleration programs.
  • Standardize and maintain supplier qualification processes and documentation in Command Media.
  • Support supplier technical capability assessments, manufacturing readiness, and compliance with technical data packages.
  • Lead or support testing, technical reviews, and validation of new sources, including RCCA activities.
  • Develop and manage qualification plans, schedules, risk registers, and EVM for onboarding and readiness.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines and communicate technical status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Travel approximately 35% - 50% to supplier sites for on‑site evaluations, audits, and readiness activities, including periodic travel to Tucson for program and workshop support.

Required Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Background in mechanical or systems engineering, hardware development, or component qualification.
  • Management and leadership experience to lead cross-department project teams or manage across multiple related departments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test requirements.
  • Experience leading technical projects and coordinating across functions.
  • Experience working with suppliers or subcontractors on technical oversight, integration, or manufacturing support.
  • Problem‑solving skills, including RCCA, validation, DFMA, and producibility improvements.
  • Experience managing schedules, risks, and deliverables in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Technical communication and documentation skills.
  • Earned Value Management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering or Materials Science.
  • Experience with second‑source or supplier qualification.
  • EVMS experience or certification.
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or other regulated hardware environments.
  • Hands‑on test experience, including planning and data analysis.
  • Agile/SAFe experience or relevant certifications (Scrum Master, SPC, PMP).

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
