Surveyor

DNV – Maritime is seeking a surveyor to join our Mexico Operations. As a Fleet in Service Surveyor for the station, you will be part of a team of highly qualified surveyors and auditors serving both the offshore and shipping segments. This role involves a combination of office-based work and field surveys on the East and West coasts of Mexico, and occasional international travel abroad This position will be based at our DNV office in Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico. What You'll Do Perform inspections and certifications of Fleet in Service vessels to ensure compliance with international standards, DNV Classification Rules, and statutory requirements Conduct surveys on ocean-going ships visiting ports in Mexico, as well as vessels at sea, to verify adherence to relevant regulations Inspect and certify Mobile Offshore Units (MOUs) in operation, ensuring compliance with Certificate of Fitness Requirements, DNV Classification Rules, statutory requirements, and international standards Survey and report on the structure and equipment of MOUs and other offshore structures during new-building, upgrades, in-service phases, repairs, and modifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements Review and respond to technical queries and design submittals regarding compliance Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are performed in accordance with the organization’s Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines, and quality requirements Maintain confidentiality of clients' business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation at all times Supervise the work of others, ensuring it is carried out efficiently and economically when applicable Communicate with line management regarding any information critical to the organization's reputation or integrity Exhibit a customer-oriented focus by promoting DNV services both onboard and on-site Serve as a technical resource for customer questions and provide guidance on compliance and operational standards Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required ***Only resumes submitted in English will be considered for this position. *** Generous PTO (Vacation, Sick Days, Company Holidays, Personal Days) Vacation bonuses pay Group health insurance plan Group retirement plan with company match Education reimbursement program Company-provided life insurance plan Food Vouchers Flexible work schedule with hybrid opportunities Benefits may vary based on position, tenure, location, and employee election DNV is a proud equal-opportunity employer committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce. What is Required Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university (Technical degree will be considered; University degree preferred) Minimum of 2 years’ experience in maritime or offshore industry Qualifications towards a class and statutory surveyor for ships and offshore units in service, new constructions, and certification of materials and components Audit experience (ISM, ISPS, MLC) preferred Chief engineer’s license or equivalent would be an asset Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing pilot ladders, tanks, flying, flying in a helicopter, crew boat launches, and conducting voyage surveys Must be able to travel (~20-30% of the year) Pre-employment background screening will be conducted This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a leading maritime organization while contributing to the safety and compliance of offshore and shipping operations in Mexico **Immigration-related employment benefits, for example visa sponsorship, are not available for this position**
