PACT (Pearson Accelerator Construction Team) is a General Partnership of Alberici, Amico, Kenaidan, and Obayashi, supported by design partners Egis, Mott MacDonald, and Weston Williamson + Partners. Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canada’s largest airport for the future of air travel—including critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience. JOB SUMMARY The Sustainability Manager plays a critical role leading PACT’s sustainability initiatives under the PACT Sustainability Management Plan (SMP) and Sustainable Procurement during design and construction. This role is responsible for integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into all phases of the program—from design through construction and commissioning—while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, client sustainability goals, and industry best practices. This role will work closely with project teams, consultants, GTAA, regulators, and joint venture partners to manage sustainability risks while supporting safe, efficient, and sustainable project delivery in keeping with the PACT Environmental Management System. RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement the program-wide sustainability strategy, including carbon reduction, climate resilience, and environmental performance targets. Align project objectives with client ESG goals, airport sustainability frameworks, and regulatory requirements. Establish governance structures, reporting protocols, and sustainability KPIs across all sub-programs. Lead initiatives related to greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction, energy efficiency and electrification (e.g., equipment, fleets, facilities), and waste minimization and circular economy practices. Oversee carbon tracking, reporting, and reduction planning across construction activities. Support delivery of low-carbon design solutions in collaboration with engineering teams. Work closely with design partners, construction teams, and commercial (procurement, cost, risk) teams to ensure sustainability is embedded across all project phases. Ensure alignment of sustainability efforts across all sub-programs. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits, client sustainability commitments, and industry standards (e.g., LEED, Envision, ISO 14001 where applicable). Prepare executive-level sustainability reports, dashboards, and updates. Support with audits and environmental assessments. Act as the primary sustainability subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with clients and regulatory bodies, joint venture partners, and community and environmental stakeholders. Identify and implement innovative sustainability solutions across construction and operations. Track emerging trends in sustainable infrastructure and integrate best practices. Drive continuous improvement in sustainability performance and reporting. Drive a culture of sustainability awareness and accountability across all project teams. Provide leadership and direction to the Environmental Team, including mentorship and guidance, while driving a supportive Team culture. Stay informed about emerging environmental regulations, technologies, and best practices to enhance project sustainability and compliance. WORKING CONDITIONS The position will be based at our office in Mississauga, Ontario, with visits to the Airport construction site as required. This position is 5 days per week in the office. Your regular work schedule will generally be Monday to Friday during site hours. From time to time, operational needs may require you to work outside those hours. All employees must complete a RAIC and Criminal background check upon joining the company. DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES Bachelor’s or Master’s in Environmental Science, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Sustainability, or related field. 8+ years in environmental compliance, sustainability, or EHS leadership roles. Holds professional experience in large complex infrastructure programs in an operational or aviation environment. Relevant professional designation (e.g., RPP, ENV SP) is an asset. Certified in ISO 14001, CSP, CIH, or other relevant credentials is considered an asset. Professional certifications in sustainability or ESG reporting (e.g., Envision, LEED, BREEAM, CEEQUAL, etc.) is considered an asset. Experience with Envision and LEED. Knowledge in sustainability, carbon management, ESG strategy, and reporting. In-depth understanding of sustainability frameworks, guidelines, and reporting standards. Strong experience implementing sustainability management systems. Familiarity with sustainability best practices and trends within the construction industry. Deep understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations. Experience with environmental permitting, compliance reporting, and audits. Proficiency in data tracking, reporting tools, and environmental monitoring systems. Understanding of sustainable resource management, materials efficiency, and circular economy. Demonstrable experience in managing multi-party teams and assessing the competency requirements of the team. Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Familiarity with GTAA or other major airport procedures is considered an asset. Valid driver’s license and eligibility for RAIC clearance required. PACT is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing employment accommodation in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier free candidate experience and work environment. If you require accommodation to apply or if selected to participate in an assessment process, please advise Human Resources.
