You own the technical and administrative backbone of switchboard enquiries for an Australian switchboard manufacturer — running each enquiry from initial customer contact through design, estimating, quoting, job administration, and invoicing. Your work follows established design standards, quotation formats, and job administration workflows aligned with Australian electrical practices and client expectations.

This is not a pure estimating or admin role — it’s the blend of both. You interpret electrical drawings and specifications, develop preliminary switchboard designs, produce professional quotations, and keep job records, invoices, and supplier correspondence moving. Best suited for professionals who bring hands-on switchboard design experience together with the organisational discipline to run the administrative side of a busy manufacturing pipeline.

You’re Likely a Strong Fit If You Have

• Degree, diploma, or technical qualification in electrical engineering, electrical technology, electrical drafting, quantity surveying, or a related discipline
• Previous experience in switchboard design (the priority focus for this role), electrical estimating, or switchboard estimating
• Demonstrated ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, load schedules, and specifications
• Strong numerical and spreadsheet skills, plus proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, and cloud-based file systems
• Excellent written and spoken English, with experience preparing professional quotations and customer correspondence
• Willingness to work 5:00 AM–2:00 PM PH Time aligned with Australian business hours from a stable home-office setup

Strong Signals

• Direct experience estimating Australian electrical switchboards and familiarity with AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439, and comparable Australian standards
• Familiarity with Schneider Electric, ABB, NHP, Hager, Terasaki, or similar electrical products
• Experience with Simpro or comparable job-management software
• Experience with switchboard design or drafting software, plus preparing bills of materials and manufacturing documentation
• Prior remote experience supporting an Australian, New Zealand, or UK electrical contractor
• Comfort using AI tools to accelerate estimating, documentation, and quotation drafting

What You’ll Own

Switchboard Design & Technical Review

You translate customer requirements into practical, manufacturable switchboard designs.

• Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, load schedules, and customer requirements
• Develop preliminary switchboard designs and configurations
• Prepare or assist with switchboard layouts, component schedules, and design documentation
• Select appropriate components — incomers, outgoing circuits, metering, protection, control equipment, enclosures, and accessories
• Liaise with the Switchboards Manager and production team to confirm technical requirements and manufacturability
• Incorporate approved customer changes into updated designs and revised quotations

Estimating, Costing & Quotation

You produce accurate estimates and professional quotations that win work and hold to margin.

• Prepare cost estimates against material, component, and labour requirements
• Issue quotations to customers using approved formats and templates
• Reflect design updates and change requests in revised quotations promptly
• Prepare bills of materials and supporting documentation for manufacturing hand-off

Job Administration & Invoicing

You keep every switchboard job accurately recorded from enquiry through completion.

• Maintain job records, documentation, and files across the switchboard pipeline
• Prepare and issue invoices as jobs progress and complete
• Coordinate with accounts on payment tracking as required
• Ensure documentation is ready for customer review and approval at every stage

Inbox & Supplier Coordination

You are the first point of contact for enquiries and the coordination hub for supplier and purchasing requests.

• Monitor the switchboards administration inbox and respond to customer and supplier enquiries
• Assist with purchasing and supplier coordination as required
• Escalate technical or commercial matters that require Switchboards Manager attention
• Maintain professional customer correspondence throughout the job lifecycle
